Quoted from MK6PIN:Yep...watching TWD on TV? Would have been rated X back then
Quoted from o-din:And you guys wonder why I didn't find Alien that shocking. First time I saw it, it was comedy.
LOL!
You're both right!

Ya, o-din. I think you forgot about that scene. It was disturbing even to me!
That was the funny part. I was desensitized long before that. Maybe watching the Caterpillar episode of Night Gallery had something to do with that..

And here it is again. I never forgot this one either!

"Trilogy of Terror" (1975).
Another great Night Gallery besides the mermaid episode is the one where Mickey Rooney meets the doc that promises him he will no longer have to live in fear. Called "Rare Objects". As they walk down the hall at the end, it sometimes reminds me of standing in my garage.

I watched it. Good one!
But he didn't have any pinball machines in his collection.

I haven't seen it in years, but every time I'm just standing there aimlessly in my garage with the door open, for some reason it comes to mind.
The mermaid episode is called "Lindemann's Catch" . A top notch episode if there ever was one.

That movie scared the crap out of me as a kid. I stayed up late one night and watched it by myself on TV. I would have been 10 or 11 at the time. Jeez it freaked me out!
And Alien. We snuck into the theater and saw it on opening night. I was 14 and it scared the dog shit out of me. The theater was packed and the reaction during the chest burster scene was pandemonium. Still remember it like it was yesterday.

Those were the days!
We hit the cinema age perfectly! Movies mostly sucked in the 70's until Steven Spielberg came on the scene early on with Jaws. I don't think any film scared me more than that one! It was 1975. I was 11 years old. I didn't swim in the local lake that summer (even though I knew there were no sharks). Then came the Poltergeist movies, Hell Raisers, Stephen King films like The Shining and IT, also the Alien and Predator movies. We had a lot of fun for sure!
