Why not install a better latch that has a more secure mechanism and then skip the bolt. The latches that come on games aren't exactly secure.

    Quoted from fiberdude120:

Those latches are there to hold the head while you put the bolts in. They are not there to hold the head up while playing.

I'm aware of that. However if you take off the latch completely you are left with two pieces of wood on top of each other. It would be simple to install a proper latch that wouldn't shake loose. There are a million different styles of safety latches that require you to remove a pin or press a release in order for the latch to let loose. You can even install 2 safety latches one towards the left of the back box one towards the right to make it nice and secure. There is next to no chance that two properly installed safety latches would ever let loose accidentally and it would avoid having to go in through the front and remove the bolts.

That's literally the whole point of this thread.

    From the op:

    Quoted from joemagiera:

No need to go into the head and use the head bolts.

I'm not saying I do this, or ever have a reason to. Simply trying to help come up with possible solutions.

The OP has clearly stated he doesn't want to remove the translite and fool around. 45 sec - bull*hit! Why would you want to deal with this after a couple of beers and entertaining a bunch of folks?!?

Judging by most of the responses people have read nothing but the title.
