    Good afternoon,
For the last 4 years I have spent countless hours Volunteering at the MOP. I was one the last standing "Lead" techs.
I want to use this forum for some good. There are 100s of techs that I have brought machines back from the dead.
Let us help the museum one last time. We would love to help you get a better idea of the games you are thinking of buying.
If you are looking for a game, ask, maybe a tech I know has worked on it.
We think of the machines as our own. And are wanting them all to find good homes.

UPDATE> Captain's officially announced the dates, Sept 10,11,12,24,25,26.

I'm interested in Ghostbusters or Who Dunnit and I'm local enough to go there, but this auction sounds like a headache and I think I'll just keep an eye on the market for those games as they're not that rare. Too bad they couldn't just do direct sales for some of these games.

    #4 2 years ago

6 days, Auction will be fun.
    I will be there.
    More details to come.

    #5 2 years ago

I've never found "deals" through captains auctions. Those premium fees are deadly.

They have 2 Ghostbusters, a premium and a LE. I believe the LE has the topper thats worth a kidney.
Who Dunnit is folded right now, not sure why.

Yeah. I saw those on a list of their games and I'd be happy to drive down and pay market value for one, but I'm not interested in going the auction route. It's too big of a headache and the fees and taxes kill the value.

Status of those? I CAN ANY ANSWER ON THE TITLES I HAVE ACTUALLY PLAYED OR WORKED ON. THE ISSUE WAS THE "INTERNATIONAL" SECTION NEVER REALLY GOT THE LOVE IT DESERVED. IT WAS SORT OF AN OVERFLOW AREA. THE ZACARRIAS ALWAYS SEEMED TO BOOT AND PLAY WITH MINOR TWEAKS THAT NEEDED TO BE DONE FROM SITTING SO LONG. PRETTY SOLID MACHINES. AND SOME OF THE BEST BACK GLASSES IN PINBALL HISTORY.

    Specifically:
    Atleta - Inder, 1991
    Bike Race - Sleic, 1992
    Sleic Pin-Ball - Sleic, 1994
    Combat - Zacarria, 1977 PLAYED
    Circus - Zacarria, 1977
Devil Riders - Zacarria, 1984 WORKED AWESOME
Farfalla - Zacarria, 1983 WORKED AWESOME
    Fire Mountain - Zacarria, 1980
Hot Wheels - Zacarria, 1979 WORKED AWESOME
    Locomotion - Zacarria, 1981
    Magic Castle - Zacarria,1984

Those two games from Spinball were not plugged in when I was there. But I was absolutely amazed by them. I've been in the hobby about 13 years and had never even heard of them. They've gotta be rare and will go for mega bucks.

Jolly Park sat for sale in NJ for only 4 or 5k for over a year. It all depends! The issue is when those rare foreign games break, who knows how to fix them? It better be you! Haha

Thank you for the update! So for the things that you didn’t mention, they may be non-working or in storage or you just didn’t ever interact with them? I know you mentioned techs had their own “herd” they maintained or something to that effect.

I’m hoping to get some of the odd balls! Love me some Spanish/Italian games

They are imports that run on 220v. We bought power converters for them and they both come on and boot to attract mode. We could not get games to start because they are in Italian? I believe. Heck for all we know it could have been saying please insert pinballs or si prega di inserire flipper . They never much made it past that stage of testing. Soon after they came in covid hit and tech days got cancelled.

They both are in excellent shape, with from what I recall no real noticeable blemishes.

    1) Are there going to be certain games for each day?
MIXED FROM WHAT I HAVE HEARD

    2) Possible preview to see each game list for each day? Or that's up to Chuck & John?
CAPTAIN'S IS RUNNING IT, SO I AM GOING TO ASSUME THEY WILL POST THE LIST WAY AHEAD OF TIME.
CHUCK OR ANY OF THE TECHS AT THIS MOMENT ARE NOT INVOLVED IN THE SALE.

    Combat - Zacarria, 1977
    Butterfly - Sega-Sonic, 1977

I used both these games for tournaments at the museum so they were gone through by me, to be sure that everything worked perfectly at that time but who knows at this point, it's been a couple years at least. The Butterfly, like most Sonic's, is really nice. Same for Combat. It's in nice shape and played well or I wouldn't have bothered with it. A friend of mine actually pulled this out of a garage in Huntington Beach and sold it to the museum.

You flying In? Your at a C-container wish list.
Boots on the ground will yield better results and condition observation.
This auction is going to be crazy imo.
Your one of many with long wish lists.

I spent a few hours working and fixing that W?D about 3 years ago at this point. It had a burnt trough coil because a switch got stuck on.
Everytime I walked by it for a year or so it was working fine.
But.....everyone should just assume any game they get will need work.

    Quoted from PinBallPeteFromSD:

They are imports that run on 220v. We bought power converters for them and they both come on and boot to attract mode. We could not get games to start because they are in Italian? I believe. Heck for all we know it could have been saying please insert pinballs or si prega di inserire flipper . They never much made it past that stage of testing. Soon after they came in covid hit and tech days got cancelled.
They both are in excellent shape, with from what I recall no real noticeable blemishes.

Only just found this thread... don't know if you're still interested in any info, can be a bit hard to try to remember each and every game as there were a hell of a lot there!
I worked on most of those unusual games when I came across from Australia because I found them the most interesting. As mentioned earlier that section never got the love it deserved.
Most of those unusual games I'd just do a very quick job on them to try to get them into a playable condition, nothing fancy, if a 10 minute job couldnt get it going then move onto the next and maybe revisit during the expo if not busy.
As the game was mentioned earlier, and I have a picture of it, when I was there I had Vernes World playable - no GI and flippers needed work - but it was still fun to play so i left it at that and moved onto working on a different game.

Based on the prices so far, I’m not interested.
I’ve gotten far better deals by old fashioned cold-calling and lead-following. Insanity.

Because there are so many games there, many are playable, but not working 100%. The owner is smart to be selling his collection now to get the most money for it, and for doing a great job of advertising the auction worldwide.
