Installed one into my EBDLE and it seems like the free play feature doesn't alway work. I can start a one player game but it won't let me add additional players. Is there a way to toggle the free play feature on/off?

Free play is enabled on Bally games by setting the left most DIP switch to on. There is nothing else that can be set.

Duh. Didn't see this on the listing of games and how to set the DIP switches. I see it now. Looks like I was still using credits and they were just not displaying and I assumed I was on Free Play. Thanks!

Nice! would love to see pics when finished. Do you think you are going to put some LED strips in the backbox or what? If so, I recommend Rock914. rockcustompinball.com. He made mine. Tell him I sent ya. I recommend the set of two strips of warm white. that way you can just jump them to the MPU board on TP2 or TP3, whichever is 12v. takes 5 minutes to install and looks way better.

Thanks for asking, I was stumped on a Star Trek as well. I couldn't see the settings in the original manual.

Thanks....I might have to look him up.

How much $$$ was it?

I'm also thinking about taking the lamp board out of my LY cabinet, drilling a bunch of holes and installing a bunch of 44 style lamp sockets...just tie into the GI for power. I think having lamp sockets will really make the back glass look nice lit up. I really don't care for the fluorescent light that's in there right now.

Yeah. Anything is better than that tube light. It was $25 shipped I believe. Pre-soldered, and all you need to do it stick and clip the alligators to the ground braid and to the MPU. Easy Peasy.

I've got an alltek question. I have one in my Baby Pac Man and it has all sorts of weird scores in the high score table. Has anyone experienced this?

You can clear those audits the same way that you can on an OEM board. Once cleared, they should either remain zero or default to some known value until you fill them up.

Would clearing them by removing the batteries produce different results than another way? If that's the case I shall investigate further.

#13 9 years ago

Yes. Removing the batteries (power) from volatile RAM, and then reapplying power will cause the memory to possibly contain garbage data. The only sure method is to overtly clear the memory via the audits and/or diagnostics.

I agree. I had that happen to my high scores when I was tinkering with it one day. I went into the game audits and cleared all the high scores and that got me back to normal. No idea what caused the initial problem though.

Do alltek MPU have cap for retaining memory when power is turned off?

Or is this something to be added?

No. Their current design uses a simtek novram which is self storing with 100 year retention. No battery or cap necessary.
