My 2007 Santa Fe fits a NIB Stern machine and I have hauled quite a few in it. Not sure how accurate these dimensions but it seems to be a similar sized SUV compared to the explorer. The height of the opening in the back is critical and for some reason that seems to be smaller on newer vehicles. How the seats fold down is also important because as you slide the box in it gets very close to the roof of my SUV. I don't drive mine that much anymore since it has close to 250,000 miles however I do keep it around because it's an excellent pinball hauler.
