Quoted from LTG:If it fires on power up it's transistor is bad.
LTG : )
No
If a ball is detected is that hole (opto issue) then 100% the coil would fire on startup (boot)
Could be the opto switch or switch matrix bad
Quoted from LTG:At this time no. Never replace working parts.
Though I doubt it in this case. Should the problem remain, then you'd need to dig deeper.
Test the transistor, if it comes up bad. Replace it. Call it a day.
LTG : )
No
Blown transistor is usually caused by a shorted coil. 100% you should ohm the coil before powering up the machine after replacing the transistor. Otherwise you just blow another transistor man. Duh
Transistors don't just go bad for no reason.
Ok
Bad transistor usually caused by a shorted coil.
Ohm coil
Change transistor
Never seen a blown transistor without something causing that in the 120 pins I've owned
Quoted from LTG:I have. In 43 years of solid state pins.

So?
I gix high tech cnc mills and industrial rapid prototype machines for decades. I have experience and proper education on this subject.
Transistors don't just ho bad for bo reason.
Most often they overheat due to a coil that is shorted and sends too much power back to the transistor. Or a shorted lamp circuit erc in pinball machines
You'd be stupid to just swap a transistor and not ask yourself why it failed.
Never in my life have I seen a blown transistor without something causing it.
Cheers!
