Narrowing down my next machine to add to the collection.

I think I'm down to GNR or a Ghostbusters Premium.

Never played the GNR but like the band and music. What is the better long term add to a collection?

I'm not sure GNR is really great, but IMO GB Premium is not a fun experience over and over and over at home.

I'd play GNR then decide.

I may be jaded by GNR in league play but you just backhand the collect member scoop over and over for (multiball) and points and it ends up being a boring game over and over. Owned a GB pro and played the premium some and it's not to my rules taste but half enjoy it and half don't. I'd find a location and play both extensively.

Is the GB premium in your "owned in the past" list just a mistake? I've got no time on GNR but enough time on GB to know that while it's fun at first but that fun feeling quickly goes away.

It depends on what you are after.

GNR- A music themed game that was based on a fairly current band at the time or...

GB- A new game themed after a movie from over 30 years ago.

That being said GNR is the more current theme if that matters to you.

I have only played GB a couple of times, and couldn't get into it (really couldn't hear what was going on, so that is a big contributor).

I have owned GnR for a few years, and I still enjoy playing it, but don't play it often. I will play Metallica probably 10-1, or more. If I didn't like the music on GnR, I probably would play it less.

I think about selling GnR once in a while, but the only game I would rather have right now is MMr, and I don't want to pay the price difference between the two to upgrade.

I see that you have never owned a Metallica. Unless you hate the band, I think that would be a better choice than either that you listed. After 3 years of owning it, it is still by far my favorite pin.

Funny,
I had METLE sitting right next to my GNR that I had had for years and when it came time for one to go METLE went first. Took a lot to get me to finally part with GNR, but the decision to lose met was pre-ordained. What an obnoxious, annoying machine that turned out to be.

Mistake, bailed on an order at the last minute from all the issues they were having early on.

GB Premium - with the few mods to make it play better/easier -> for sure!

Metallica machine is ok but not my favorite band so it kind of makes it hard to really get into it..don't think it would stay very long if I bought.

GNR ...but literally any game ever in the history of humanity is better than GB.

As a general rule, you should always play a pin first before buying.

Reading reviews & watching videos are helpful, but actually playing is the only way to know for sure whether you're going to like it or not.

But having played both, my choice would be neither. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

I've played GB a good bit and do like it however some games a brutal.

GNR on the otherhand I haven't played and don't see these too often out in the wild. Doubt I will get to put much time on one.

Really no comparison. The more you play GB the more you like. GNR is ok, I've played it many times up at Pinballz

GNR is OK. It's one of the best DE games (Tommy is my favorite)...but you have to be OK with it's "old game-isms" like poor sound quality, the DE-feeling, etc. GNR goes a long way if you're a fan of the band, tho...and it's a decent game to boot.
