A Clockwork Orange. Originally released in an X version which I saw, then a few weeks later the R version was released. Stanley planned it that way for more shock value and had shot the R scenes to replace the X scenes so the movie remained the same length.
Harold and Maude. A must see movie.

Quoted from LTG:

A Clock Work Orange

By far my favorite movie. I was such a Kubrick nut at the time, I immediately saw it when it came out which was released "X" rated. Kubrick
did this kind of as a shock stunt and filmed the few X scenes in an "R" version so the scenes were not actually "cut" from the film. I believe the X version lasted 2 weeks then (most likely) 1 reel was sent to the theaters as a replacement reel. I personally hate violent movies but this felt like the future regarding society and politics.
Barry Lyndon - Kubrick
Dial M for Murder (shot in 3D) - Hitchcock
Rope - Hitchcock
Koyaanisqatsi - Reggio
