I was old enough to know how
But young enough to get away with it
People talked weird in the 80's.
Leftover "Cool, far out" late 60's phrases mixed with Deeze and Doze from the late Seventies.
Valley Girl dialect snuck in well before it became popular. Most (not all) of the girls who pulled it off were attractive.
There was also the country/ down east/ bluegrass drawl everywhere.
Any foreign accent (beside of Spanish) got immediate attention.
You could easily size up who was speaking what kind of slang.
I was there in the "60's! The verbal usage was used by kids that were "Hip" to the here and now! We didn't have internet, cell phones,tv's in our hands, or any other 21st century crap! It was also a way to tell if the person you were talking with had the same interests that you had! Liked the same music, and went to rock concerts!Looking back,I was happy, then!!
