I was hoping someone knows what the purpose of ferrite on ribbon cable that goes from display board to dot matrix....
To reduce electromagnetic interference. A wire going too close to the wrong stuff can start acting like an antenna, and ferrite blocks that effect. Same concept as those little cylinders on the DC side of the power cord for your printer and other electronics..... common on HAM and CB radio antennas too.
