    Good Afternoon Everyone,

I have a GI circuit out on my Shadow, I have continuity from the board to where it makes connection under the playfield, but when I put a meter on it I'm only getting 2 volts. All other GI circuits are working as they should. Anything particular I should be looking out for?

    Thanks,

    Joe

Power to the board good on each pin ? If so I'd suspect weak continuity across the board and through the board to the pin going out.

You have continuity but any where along the way it drawing ohms ?

Thanks Lloyd - so here's what I know: I have 2v ac across that line (wht/vio and vio) at the pins on J121 and at the first lamp in that string of GI. I pulled the board, tested the traces for resistance and continuity on that circuit, no issue. The other GI strings on the same plug (J121) have a solid 6.8V. Leaky transistor maybe?

Gut feeling is not the transistor.

You have good AC going to the lower left side of the board on each pin ?

You tested traces - how is your through hole continuity doing ?

Just for craps and grins. I'd reflow the solder on the pin for AC to the board for that line and for that line leaving the board.

Check your incoming voltages. Most likely suspect is the big connector coming off the transformer with the yellow wires that leads to J-115. Disconnect and inspect for burnt pins.

Also inspect connector J-115 on driver board. If no burnt pins or connector, measure incoming voltages at J-115. The triacs used in the GI circuits rarely fail.
