I’m sure most of us have seen Bally backglasses from the late 70’s and early 80’s that had art that was bubbling and wrinkled. I’ve passed on a few seemingly great deals because of this and my fear that I could never find another one. Well these things are more fragile than I thought.
I had a nearly perfect backglass in my Fathom. I took it out to do some work on it a few weeks ago put it in the corner of my heated basement with the rest of my spare backglasses. Today, I put it back in my game and ironically it looked like it was underwater. Bubbling and wrinkled like so many other Bally backglasses.
Maybe the humidity change over the last 3 weeks? Maybe the difference in temperature between the air and the concrete floor? Who knows, but for what it’s worth, don’t take any chances.
