Bring this thread back up, because I too am looking to upgrade my speakers on my JP.

I would rather spend the extra money to have a quality product. I would also spend the extra money to be able to easily drop in a system. I've looked up information about rolling your own speakers in the past, and since I'm not an audio guy, I decided against doing anything because I didn't understand what needed to be done. I just figured you could do a one to one drop in with better quality speakers and be done. Not really what I found. Power and ohms and whatever else needed to be taken into consideration.

I have a polk subwoofer connected, and it sounds pretty great as is. But was looking to upgrade if it was worth upgrading. If I don't notice much of a difference, I won't do it. I also want this to last. Like Billy16 says, you get what you pay for. I can see going with cheaper speakers if you just want to replace ones that have gone bad. But I want better sound. The stock ones work for what they are, I just want to try to get everything sounding as good as it can, with the available source audio clips.

So with that in mind, is FF the way to go? Or is what Curbfeeler did the better option all around for quality and price?

Quoted from davebart5:

What did you decide on Woody24?

Stuck with my stock speakers +Polk sub for now. Had extra expenses pop up, so couldn't justify this extra cost at the moment.

Still considering them, but I've been pretty happy so far. Sub really made a difference.

I'm trying to read up on installation recommendations, but it seems to be pretty straightforward

Yup. My cabinet sub had two unused extra attachment points. I just got two of those kind of connectors, hooked it to my speaker wire and plugged them on to those tabs. Super simple. I also had about a 1/2 inch hole already in the bottom of my cabinet. Not sure what it's purpose was, but I fed the cables up through that spot. Not sure if it's a standard hole or not though.
