I've owned a Stern TWD Pro for a few years and am finally about to jump into replacing rubber, some LED's that aren't working, and also trying to figure out why one of the Barn Doors doesn't shut all the way when the zombie goes back inside (it's about 80% shut but not flush). Since I have to place an order for the rubber kit on Marco's figured there's probably other things I should consider buying since shipping is half the cost of the rubbers. Any tools, accessories, or other items you would recommend to someone just starting out that would make life easier now or down the road?

Todd Andersen's article is a good start.

He did home repairs for years.

I also would start as LTG suggests with Todd Anderson's article.

There are MANY threads, and MANY, MANY specialty tools that you can buy.

Do a search here on the pinside forum for 'tools' in forum topics.

I recommend a post tool (so that you can hold the post still will unscrewing the top nut), magnetic screw driver, magnetic nut drivers (depends on which sizes you need), a switch adjustment tool, and a magnetic tray to put screws etc in. All can be bought on Marcos site.

Good call on something to hold the post still, I searched "post tool" and a few other keywords and don't see anything labeled that on Marcos except a post stud buddy that's more of a wrench it looks like? Found the Switch Adjustment Tool(s) though.

soldering iron and lead solder. unavoidable that you will eventually need these. have fun! it becomes a significant part of the fun believe it or not!

From what I've seen, the most common tools needed are the ones that help you put an addition on your house.

I have a few posts that I use this tool on since it is thin (easier than a open ended wrench).

Time. Lots of it too. If you find a place that has it cheap, buy all you can.

Common sense, mechanical aptitude. EM speaking.

I'm sure this has been covered elsewhere but here goes anyway;
a set of nut drivers
assortment of screw drivers
needle nose pliers
dikes (side cutting wire cutters...)
a good soldering iron, lead-tin rosin core solder and a manual solder sucker
just about any VOM or DVM and a few clip leads
a set of small, open end wrenches
SAE Allen wrench set

While its nice to have super nice, expensive tools, for working on pins,
they just are not necessary. Harbor Freight will do just fine. As you get into it
more, you'll add more things.

A telescoping magnet. It has saved me many times.
