Quoted from vid1900:When I was growing up, like in most neighborhoods, there was a guy who sold stolen goods.
TVs, VCRs, those big microwaves with the temperature probe/ browning element, bikes, snow throwers, golf clubs...
I wanted a big stereo for my bed room and told my dad. He said they were expensive and he did not have the money this week. I told him we should just go down and see Big Mike.
My dad sat me down in the most serious tone I ever heard from him and explained that WE don't buy from thieves.
He explained that when you buy from thieves, it encourages them to steal more, and sooner or later, no matter how good our alarm was or how big our dogs where, the thieves would steal from us.
I plan on teaching that same lesson to my own kids.
So did you get the big stereo the next week?
