Quoted from TonyP66:

I am headed to the UK this summer and want to head to mathmos when there. For those that have one I am assuming you run a power adapter for use in the states. Any other thoughts on picking one up and bringing it home?

Depending on which model you get, you might just cut off the plug, replace with USA plug

Then replace the bulb 240v 35w GU10 bulb with a 120v 35w GU10

I think you can just swap the bulb and get a straight up plug adapter right?

Good to know. Thanks for the reply

At times I've found going through a 'smart' plug may reduce power to the lamp just enough to have problems. You didn't mention one but figured I would put it out there.

Maybe that's the problem with my huge lamp. It takes hours to heat up.

All grandes take a few hours to heat up. If you have an Excalibur, it’s pushing 4.5. And colossus are 6 if I remember correctly

My cheap standard sized lamp takes like 5 hrs to flow. Should I upgrade the bulb. Its an amazon cheapie

Thanks for chiming in. Surprisingly I put the lava lamp in a different spot in the room (away from a baseboard heater) and it started working great. Must have been the slight temperature change or air flow in the room
