I just found the same thing on a World Cup Soccer. Don't know what it does and the connector is seeing some corrosion so I need to do something with it.
I have a vague recollection that it has to do with increasing or decreasing the number of coins it takes to add up to a credit. At one point, the prices WPC games didn't match up with how operators wanted to price their games. You can remove it.
