Oh well, damn! There we go. That Metallica font is pretty horrible though. What's that from?

Borg in back & Metallica under

That is it. I guess these will be the first custom plungers.

It's okay though. I'm sure that entire picture isn't on the playfield or anything. Just Stern using it as a teaser.

Could that be cabinet artwork? Why would Stern have a custom poster?

Of course, stern wouldn't just take a pre-done pic and drop it on a PF....

It clearly isn't custom. Herbert found it online obviously.

Herbert, where did you find that at? Did Pushead do it?

Haha fair enough, but that definitely isn't a pic of the playfield art.

    #16 11 years ago

Maybe it'll be used in the DMD animations.

I have no idea. I saw the blower in the pic, so I just google image searched 'metallica hotrod poster'

    #18 11 years ago

Should be announced at end of month

That was obviously sarcasm. They've done it many times in recent history.

That design was used in the late 90's when Reload was released

    Shipping mid-April then?

Did someone have the poster at home and put two Xmen figures on top of the poster and took a pic?
I doubt Stern would drop a clue like this.

    #25 11 years ago

That is on Stern's Facebook page, fwiw.

That is on Stern's Facebook page. It is in a contest to win those two signed Borg figures from X-Men. This is clearly a Stern clue.

Gotcha....I hope that isn't the cab art OR playfield art...it looks terrible.

Metallic is the next pin from stern then after that is Star Trek

That art is apparently by "Lil Daddy" Roth, son of Ed Roth of Rat Fink fame, in keeping with the hot rod theme of the song Fuel. Not Pushead and I seriously doubt it will have any place on the game. It's a pretty obscure piece of art from Metallica history.

Interesting, thanks for the back story. I agree, it won't be a part of the game. It's just Stern being tricky.

    Yes but drum roll............................

Lyman Sheets is doing the code for Metallica!!!!!!!

So who is doing Ritchie's game? - Lonnie or Waison

The Metallica clues were 6 months ago, you have to know where to look and listen.

    #38 11 years ago

Hope the code is fairly polished & the "Pro" is good because incomplete LE's are just too rich for my blood.

I reeeeally need something tough in my lineup... Cartoons & a midget sausagefest are all I have at the moment

I'm hoping for a Premium for those that don't want to go putting 7K+ on a pin. That said, I would need to play it first for some pins I prefer the Pro over the LE. I love it when that happens.

Metallica is not for me,I was waiting on Star Trek but if Lyman is not doing the code and the new operating system and LCD are not going to be ready I will pass on this too.

    #41 11 years ago

Lyman is doing all the code for metallica hells yeah
    sorry star trek fans

Someone said Ritchie confirmed Lyman is working on Star Trek. Either someone is fibbing about Metallica or Lyman has his hands in every game... What is it?

Who confirmed Lyman on ST ?

All I know is Lyman IS doing Borg's pin and he is getting one for his collection, that speaks volumes. Press release in 3 weeks.

    #44 11 years ago

I have head from someone at Stern that Lyman is doing code on Metallica.

That doesn't mean that he won't have plenty of time to help and/or lead Star Trek in the many months between Metallica shipping (April? May?) and Star Trek.

Given how amazing the ACDC software is, it would be silly to think that they wouldn't want Lyman on the next music pin.

Sounds like it was Ritchie at TPF.

I grew up with the magnificent art of Ed Roth and Robin Williams.

    Even had the model kit.

4 months ago Lyman told me he was not assigned to a project at the time, making me think he was not working on the very next game (Metallica), but was in line for the following game (ST) since these are 1 year projects, but I could have assumed too much.

Now in the past couple weeks a few typically in the know say he is on Metallica, Ritchie says he is on Star Trek, and I also heard that he helped a bit on this latest XM code... so it sounds like a lot of rumor or he may be tasked with both of the next two games, which puts it into question how much involvement on each. Either way, I think it's the right move to keep Lyman involved in all games at some level after the XM fiasco.

    #48 11 years ago
    Quoted from krupa:

Sounds like it was Ritchie at TPF.

    I'd like specifics, what percentage 10%, 25%, 75% involvement ? I know it's minority, not majority.

Lyman is majority lead coder on Metallica. So what are the other programmers gonna do, twiddle their flipper fingers ? It doesn't add up.

I'm gonna stop now, not hype it. History shows a non hype = a killer pin.
AC/DC was not hyped until release. BIBLE for me pre-preorder.

    Powerball = poo
