Your motor is worn out (likely) or the gear and shaft is not rotating freely (less likely). Remove the motor and the ball should rotate freely.
I'll bet you that if you change rotational direction the motor locks up. And this will cause enough current flow to kill the fuse.
I recently had the very same issue. Still on the lookout for a replacement motor.
