I had something similar with my flash.. what I found was that I had a loose diode that was hitting another piece of metal, and there was a switch the was pretty much closed and from the vibrations of the pinball machine it would randomly score. so I would definitely check the switches first then check diodes if it isn't the any of the switches. so for me it was a mix of those 2 things.
