Just wondering to those out there who have done ramp mods to their Tron already, whats the best method of planning the drill holes on the ramps? Im going every six inches or so, but I want to make sure they are tight and hugging the curves. So it doesn't look sloppy. Anything you would have done differently?

I've read that melting the holes with a soldering iron is a nice, clean way to do it, but I haven't actually tried it.

Others have recommended a dremel, but I have not done it, I taped my ELwire on, will try the dremel when I get ELI's mod...

Iv got the method set. Iv used the soldering iron before and find the holes 'cleaner' when you drill. I guess Im more wondering about hole placement? How to keep the wire tight and anything you would do over if you could. You only get 1 shot after all.

Perhaps someone could post some pics of their LE and highlight all the zip tie points, Id add a few extras in the inner curves. Good luck Dr.!

I head Stern will happily replace your ramps if you screw it up. Just kidding

I watched B_R-The Man! Great video-take ramps off completely then place scotch tape for layout on holes to be drilled.

These may be to late (but better late than never 8-})

No such thing as too many photos.

I had started but held off on the drilling more till I got some responses. Thanks for all of this. It seems I have so far drilled LESS holes than Martin's guide but around the same as the LE. (and Kimball's I think is the LE too?)

I'll watch B_R's video and maybe pick up some scotch tape (thought about doing that already but had none in the house. My instincts were to use as little zip ties as possible for a clean look. Maybe there is a happy medium between tape and less holes?

I have the kimballs el set, the tape has held ok but it is starting to look slightly loose in spots, so I will FO SHOW zip tie when ELI's mod gets installed on my baby.

These are the pre-cut mounting tape that I send out with the TRON Sound Activated EL Wire Ramp Kits:
http://www.scotchbrand.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/ScotchBrand/Scotch/Products/Catalog/~/Scotch-Pop-Up-Tape-Refill-Strips?N=4335+3294603612&rt=rud

Drilling is probably the best long term solution but when the Tape is applied very tightly to/around the EL Wire & then to the Ramp it has held surprisingly well - so a significantly easier way to go if you're not ready to completely remove & drill your Ramps (or as a prelude to figuring out where to drill 8-}).

With the FO being a larger diameter (+ having significantly more weight & mass) not sure how the pre-cut tape would work.

The fiber cable has a nice super slick Teflon (well, PTFE actually) jacket. Tape might be tricky, except where you can force the fiber into a bend with zip ties, and use the tape to hold it there.

nice, just go for it. measure twice, drill/cut once. have fun and love pinball
