I am in the process of restoring two Comet Pinball Machines. One will get total restoration. No holds barred, top to bottom, spare no expenses kind of project. It will go into my personal collection. Comet is my Holy Grail pin and when it's finished, it's getting bolted to the floor in my gameroom right next to my AC/DC! Never getting rid of either of those two. Anyway, the second machine will be a high quality players pin. Please let me know if anyone is interested in this restoration project. I don't want to go to the hassle of taking extra pictures and posting my progress if no one cares. You can either reply to this post or give it a thumbs up. Here are some pictures of my progress so far. Thanks for looking.

I still need two corkscrew ramps and two cycle jump ramps for these projects. I hear there is a guy who might be able to reproduce the corkscrew ramp sometime soon, but until then I'm still in the hunt. I already have a NOS center ramp and NOS decal for it. I had the playfield restored and cleared. Looks awesome! Has a beautiful shine to it. There is a company that is making a hardtop overlay that I'm going to use for the second unit. It should cost about 1/4 of what it cost to repaint and clear my first playfield. Plus, I should be able to install it without removing everything from the bottom side of the playfield.... I hope anyway.

I got most everything disassembled out of the head. What a PIA that was. I should be able to sand it down tomorrow. I'll take some pictures tomorrow and post them later tomorrow night.

I got the rest of the cabinet and the head sanded down. I can't believe how much time it takes to sand off a little paint on a cabinet. Here are some more pictures.

Going to start some bodywork on the cabinet and head next. Need to save up some money to get a stencil for it. Will post more pictures later.

Quoted from gutz:

Need fabric for the speaker panel? I had to buy a large piece and have left overs.

Yes, I do. I pulled off the piece from the panel and I figured I would just take it to my local fabric store and buy enough to recover it. I need enough to do two speaker panels.

Quoted from gutz:

If you can't find what you need locally, let me know.

I appreciate your offer. I will let you know if I can't find what I need. Thanks.

Don't worry. I sanded everything down smooth. I also picked up a bottle of wood glue to use on the head. Might work on that this weekend.

Just an update FYI. I have bought two orange-dyed corkscrew ramps and am waiting for two cycle jump ramps that are being formed with a super tough material called Kydex. I am ready to paint the cabinet and head. I have the stencil kit and Sherwin Williams color matched my paints. Slowly but surely things are progressing, and don't call me Shirly! Keep in touch.

I got my two cycle jump ramps in the mail today. One black Kydex formed ramp and one formed with clear red plastic. They look really nice just sitting in the box. I also decided to just paint the cabinet myself so I bought a Wagner Power Painter off of Facebook. Now I just need a stretch of 4 or 5 dry days with light winds so that I can get er done. Know what I mean? Stay tuned.
