Ranking the best hamburger can be more contentious than the top 100 rankings! Selecting the best burger can be (grounds) for some serious knock down drag out battles but that's what will make this poll more interesting.

I don't know all the local and regional chains so I am gonna go with what I know.

It is pretty hard to beat In and Out, especially for the price. Hint, at In and Out, order the buns double toasted. The extra crunch takes the burger to the next level!

    Quoted from Electrocute:

Your choices are basically “The best crap in a bag” hamburger chain.

    ese

Kinda pretentious on your part, sure we all have our favorites but to call these chains product "crap in a bag" is not accurate. Some of these guys make some really good burgers and when you factor in the price it's a pretty damn good deal. Are there better burgers out there, sure but for around five dollars they are pretty tasty. Chains like Red Robin, Applebee's etc. make decent burgers but they are well above the five-ish dollar threshold. I have spent over $50 for a burger in some of the ultra fancy restaurants and some of the five dollar guys are not to far behind. Price is definitely not indicative of quality. And sometimes you just feel like a good greasy burger for a good price.

In and Out is closing the gap with Five Guys.
In and Out around 300 locations over 200 in California. Five Guys 1,500 locations. If In and Out was nationwide like Five Guys I'm pretty sure they would be in a commanding lead.

    Quoted from Calfdemon:

I'm not a huge fan of 5 guys either because I have the choice of both that and In N Out. Not saying 5 Guys is bad, but when I can go to either, I will choose In N Out each time. If I had no access to In N Out, then I would probably love 5 Guys a lot more. But they just don't compare.
And aside from the "double toasted" tip for In N Out, one thing I did not know until my Stepdaughter worked there for a while, is that In N Out will put chopped chilis on your burger if you ask. It takes the Double Double to a whole new level. My go to order is a Double Double, animal style, with chilis. And I wash it down with a lemon-up!</blockquoteis

I thought I knew the In and Out secret menu pretty well. Did not know about the chili option. Next time Double Double, Grilled Onions, and Chilis.

Anyone else with any good In and Out off the menu options?

Could not agree more with your Five Guys vs In and Out comparison --- Nailed It!

    Quoted from RWH:

Ate at a Freddy's Steak Burgers today and it was pretty good. I'll have to eat there a couple more times and get a good burger before I steer people their way.

This is the type of in-depth research we need brought to the Top 100 rankings!

It's a tough job doing the burger research, happy to see we have so many willing to sacrifice so much in the name of fair and balanced burger ratings.
