when starting the game, the 1000 pt relay activates and stays activated. When flipper button is pushed, 1000s score increases.

Relay can be deactivated by disrupting the red and red-white connection on the tilt relay, but then game does not start and just continues to cycle.

Check the yellow stand up target and the 2 out lane rollover switches for a closed or shorted switch.

There is a 1000 point switch making contact on the playfield keeping the relay and score reel energized. Using the flipper is causing vibration to that switch causing it to momentarily release allowing another 1000 pts. Put little strips of paper inside all the 1000 pt switches to find the one that needs adjustment. The tilt relay is a red herring.
