I am looking for someone to weld my LW3 stainless steel ramp, it’s a small job and wondering who welds ramps or who can refer me to someone.

I know there is a post here on Pinside about a guy who does it but he has not logged into Pinside since June 2021 so I don’t think he is active anymore. I emailed his company’s email no response…

    Just looking for other options…

Anyone know someone reasonable for a small job.

Look up local metal fabrication shops in your area and see if they are willing to help.

You can also try auto body repair shops. They will have experience welding the thin metal that pinball ramps have. Auto sheet metal requires precise heat and skill to keep from blowing through the metal. Your preference should go to somebody experienced with a TIG process as it will give a cleaner, more precise weld. A MIG process would work too, but I prefer TIG for small metal pieces. Expect to pay for the weld, and optionally, any clean-up (grinding) of the weld.

    You could try Loganpinball
    He makes wireform ramps.

I can do repair, but you would spend more money on the shipping back and forth. I would ask a autobody shop if they could fix it. Dont call, stop by one and bring the parts with you and just ask them if they can weld it for you. Most body shops have some good welders / fabricators. If not you can send it to me. Just pm me.

Thanks all for the posts - I think I will try local like most of you said. It would likely cost more to ship then the time to weld it quick.

The bad thing we can all agree about is that most of the body shops of people who do these trades they all are kind of busy and staff is minimal so they tend not to be looking for little things to do.

There’s a shop on Roosevelt and about 95th ne, a few blocks north of ace hardware. I think they weld - it’s a metal fab shop and they are very nice — I took in an apron to see if they could recreate it a few months ago and talked to them about homebrew pinball for a bit. Smaller kind of shop that I’m sure could do this.

Yeah. I’m lucky my father in law is a welder and he’s willing to help me out when I need it.

These days no one wants to work the trades it seems and anyone else doing that work seems busy.

Reviving thread...I'm near Seattle and likely looking for some homebrew ramp spot-welding...did you ever find a local spot?

Not really - per se - someone I have seen around the pinball community who helped me out, it was not a business and he helped me personally.
