What are your top 5 underrated games?
Here are mine:
Rob Zombie
NBA fastbreak
Swords of Fury
Heavy metal meltdown
Time Fantasy
Honorable Mention:
Spectrum
Number 1 on this list needs to be Avengers LE. Great game once it's dialed in.
Added over 6 years ago: Number 2 would be BDK.
Quoted from kermit24:Not falling for this, I want to keep them underrated!
Don't worry about it.
This thread will be a random list of medium quality games with ho-hum looking artwork that some pinsider happens to love playing.
Just like all threads that ask for best/worst/overrated/underrated items.
Nobody is going to say, "WOW!! Some guy on pinside loves playing Hardbodies! It's underrated! I'm going to go buy one!"
Quoted from skywalker:Top 5 underrated from Stern no particular order,
WPT
24
Sopranos
Monopoly
T3
honorable mention
Batman
Agree with this list 100%
So a lot of the games I thought were underrated five years ago, are now much closer to popular rated: Congo, Dracula, Fish Tales, The Shadow, etc. I'd still say there is value there as you can get two games for the same cost as a newer game. Also, you can pretty much take your pick of most games before late 80s. Everything before that time is underrated.
Rollergames - A lot of the System 11 games are still underrated, but this the most underrated IMHO.
Hardbody - Fast and furious game that take good reflexes on the "flex save".
Lethal Weapon 3 - The perennial "budget" DMD. Still is a lot of fun to shoot. Really most DE games are underrated.
Jetson's - Not a value, but I've heard it really is a great earner with kids on route.
World Cup Soccer - A machine, I'd still love to own someday.

criteria for what is "under rated" please?
Outside of pinside top 150?
Glad to see all the love for LAH as I only recently entered the pinball hobby and that was the first pin I purchased and I am absolutely loving it. I have been a casual player for years and would add
BR
f14 Tomcat
Monopoly
Popeye
to my list and for the record Ive only played Addams Family a few times and it didnt scream top 10 game to me.(I'll save any further comments for an overrated thread)
I always say Black Hole when this poll comes up. I know post-EM Gottliebs don't have the best reputation, but this game is fast and fun. It's got a multiball mode that's very challenging to get to. The game forces compelling risk-reward decisions regarding the lower playfield -- it's where the BIG points are, but you could lose your ball. Plus, the theme and the backglass are very cool, and the inverted lower playfield is an iconic feature.
I think that the criteria for an underrated game would be a game that is actually thought poorly of. Or at best, completely ignored by the collecting community.
Which translates into low prices. An underrated game will have an underrated-game price tag.
A lot of the games mentioned in this thread are just middle of the road games that are well known and well liked but not a red hot collectable.
Like for example, Black Rose. Everyone knows this game, it has an enthusiastic fan base who write nice things about it, and it has a decent price tag.
So I wouldn't call that an underrated game.
A guy who LOVES Black Rose will think of it as underrated by other pinball collectors, but I don't think it fits the classic description of underrated.
Now if Hardbodies turned out to be a really fun game, that would be an underrated game.
A lot of the system 11s are underrated imo. I find pretty much all system 11s amazing. They're all unique themes, interesting layouts, and the callouts/music was really cool back then.
Police force gets a bad wrap. LOVED that game. Easy and straight forward, but fun as hell. Call outs great.
Millionaire. Ugly to look at, but fun to play. Cheesy and interesting layout with the moving shooter lane.

Then consider it underrated. I'm seriously debating about bringing it to MGC just to give people another chance to play one.
I get those that don't like artwork/theme, but the gameplay is solid. Complete the target banks, raise the ramps to expose the orbit, and shoot the orbit for jackpots. Plus on top of that you've got inline drop targets for multiball and an inventive feature in the "flex save".
There seems to be four distinct categories of "underrated" going on here:
Pins That Play Well But Have An Embarrassing Theme / Terrible Art / Ridiculous Backglass:
- Hollywood Heat
- Genesis
- Rollergames
- Arena
- Raven
- Baywatch
- Heavy Metal Meltdown
- Future Spa
- Hardbody
Pins That Play Well But Are Themed After a Property Nobody Cares About:
- Johnny Mnemonic
- The Shadow (can this really still be considered underrated? c'mon)
- Congo
- Last Action Hero
- Lethal Weapon 3
- Maverick
- Big Hurt
- Demolition Man
Pins That Have Been Heavily Criticized On Pinside For Years, Perhaps Unfairly:
- Rolling Stones
- Avengers
- Tranformers
- Popeye
Good Pins That People Just Kinda Forget About:
- Mustang
- Roadshow
- NBA Fastbreak
- Black Hole
- WPT
- Sopranos
- Avatar

And, of course, woodrails other than those manufactured by Gottlieb.
