I am pretty sure it goes on the shooter lane where the ball gets kicked out see if that works.

This is the main reason I might decide to buy a standard and get the powder coating done by someone I trust. I just wish the Invisiglass came on the Standard. Seems like a waste to just throw away a piece of unwanted glass.

I know this isn't the "scientific" way of levelling a game, but I always start by turning the back legs really far down and then playing the game over the next couple hours and turning the front legs until the game plays the way I want it too. I have used all the apps, bought a digital level, used torpedo levels, and nothing works for me better then just playing the game and making adjustments. Even then I find myself making adjustments weeks, sometimes months later. Hope that helps someone.

#3456 6 years ago

I am trying to figure out if there is a cue before the game takes a picture for a high score? I would like to make a funny pose but can't seem to figure out when the game is taking my picture.

#3458 6 years ago

That's what I thought thanks

#3465 6 years ago

I think the player should have more control when the picture is taken so we can pose how we want.

#3469 6 years ago

I've only had the game for a couple days now and the whole family is having a blast, especially me! I have tried a number of things to get the theatre magnet to stop dropping the ball SDTM, but nothing really seems to work. I have changed the pulse to a higher number that seemed to work for most of the theatre shots, but during EMP strike and collecting hurry ups it still drops the ball SDTM. Has anyone just turned the magnet off?

Also the previous owner said he put Cliffy's on the game, I am wondering what version, the Theatre cliffy doesn't sit perfectly flush, the 3m tape Cliff puts on the protector isn't sticking to the play field and there is a little bit of a lip, is there anyway to fix this, or do I need to order another set?

#3470 6 years ago

I am thinking the 2 posts at the phone scoop may have been tightened too much and flexed the protector. I will try and loosen them off and see if that helps.

#3472 6 years ago

I meant phone scoop. I just took it off and gave it a little fine tuned bending and it is lying more flush now.

#3482 6 years ago

On my game I can backhand the phone scoop and backhand the left ramp (just barley). I have upped the left flipper 1 point and the right flipper 2 points. Hitting the SIM card on purpose reliably is impossible for me. However, I think the SIM hole is easy enough to hit randomly so that you don't really need to specifically go for it, sooner or later it will fall in there. I try to get in a multi ball when I have it lit and most of the time it falls in there. When I spend too many shots dedicated to SIM card I get frustrated and end up draining, with patience I have found it will fall in there eventually.

#3484 6 years ago

It is not an easy shot that's for sure but I seem to hit it regularly. On my game I have the back legs turned down about 1/4" or so, that's the only thing I have done so far.

Hey guys, recently purchased DI the previous owner didn't mention anything about the scratches on the play field is this normal for DO? I have games with 5000+ plays and nothing as bad as this. It is easy to see in the reflection of the light, but it is like that everywhere.

#3500 6 years ago

It doesn't bother me if it is normal wear. None of my other games are even close to this bad though, wonder why this clear is showing scratches so badly?

#3503 6 years ago

Thanks for the info, I am indeed concerned with quality of the clear coat, I don't mean to dredge up this topic again. I am mostly concerned with what my play field will look like down the road. I will make sure to keep a good coat of Wax on it, hopefully saving me from replacing the PF in a couple years. Not sure why JJP doesn't use the same clear coat as TH and WOZ. My TH is still in immaculate condition after nearly 1000 plays.

Quoted from bigd1979:

As long as it dont wear down to the art (which it won't) then the clearcoat is there to protect which its doing. Di is hard on balls . . If u want it to stay super shiney then mylar the playfield or use a playfield protector to keep it perfect....otherwise its doing its job imo.

I have over 5000 plays on my Met and 1000 on my Hobbit and nothing even close to this. I have perfect vision, I can see a major difference, this play field is not the quality of my other games, that is all I am saying. I don't want to f**king mylar a play field and shouldn't have too buddy. Happy to hear this is what I can expect for a 10k pin.

#3516 6 years ago

I'd love to see you buff these scratches out I can feel the edge of them with my fingernail, and I wax my machines as per Vids instruction, Blitz. I guess we'll find out in a couple of years if this clear holds up. I don't have to hold up a light to mine, that is the overhead light in my 10 ft high garage, I just took a picture with the glare so it was easier for everyone to see. I can see the scratches clear as day, I don't need a microscope or a magnifying lens.

I really don't care that much, love the game, I just don't need someone telling me this is what to expect from every pin. Cmon man, maybe your game isn't scratched as bad as mine, don't tell me every game is like this, it isn't, I OWN OTHER PINBALLS THEY ARE NOT SCRATCHED EVEN CLOSE TO THIS BAD.

Everyones magnets seem to be a little different, try adjusting a little at a time until it is just right for you.

My first lottery ticket does not scratch unless you give your torso a good wiggle.

I can't imagine keeping the SIM card on stock setting, as it stands I barely get many letters with the carry over turned on. That being said if I ever need more of a challenge I can always set it back to stock.

Two of my favourite shots in DI are hitting Big Bang while in a mode and the ball drops right into Sim card, and hitting the telephone scoop with the upper flipper when the ball is slowly coming back down the right orbit. I am just starting to understand the nuances of this machine, what a great game!

#6005 5 years ago

I thought I heard something about the skill shot being worth more points? After update still the same for me.

I don't think I will be updating until bugs are ironed out.

Unless you are a really good player, or enjoy beating yourself over the head, just set the SIM card to carry over. I really can't imagine playing this game any other way. I just keep throwing the ball up at the theatre and usually I get a few lucky bounces into the SIM. I think the phone scoop is harder to hit on my game then the SIM card to be honest. I took off the Cliffy on my phone and replaced with mantis protector. The Cliffy was causing a lot of rejects on my phone scoop and now the ball rolls in much better/smoother.

Quoted from Buellxb12r:

I traded for a DI with a playfield protector already installed. The ball gets stuck on the QED guy slot quite often because of the added depth from the protector. Does anyone have a suggestion to help alleviate the ball getting stuck there so often? I've obviously thought about taking the playfield protector off, it's just a lot of work. I also realize you can just wait for a ball search to be performed which does put the ball back in play.

Shake the machine when the ball comes near the track, it will keep you on your toes, and make you a better pinball player! Other then that, remove the protector I think.

Quoted from Crile1:

Over the weekend replaced the warped (bending upward) factory cliffy with a Mantis protector for the phone scoop. Wow! What a difference. Was a pain to place. Had to remove the old cliffy, the scoop mech and the subway going into the scoop. But it was worth it. So many fewer rejects.

I started with Cliffy protector, too many rejects, went with the mantis protector (what a major pain to install), eventually I removed the mantis protector as well and now the game plays flawless and both me and my wife have put up multiple high scores. I don’t care how beautiful the game looks, if it doesn’t play well it’s useless to me. Interestingly enough I have a cliffy on my Sim card scoop and I hit it almost every time with the upper flipper never get any rejects. The game place so much better with a naked phone scoop I just can’t believe it!

#10439 3 years ago

Took me nearly a year of constant rejection before I got to see a naked phone scoop.

#10441 3 years ago
Quoted from delt31:

I'm the opposite. Phone scoop with cliffy is never an issue. Sim card shot with cliffy rejects.
Any trick on the SIM shot?

I try not to think about it and I just shoot the ball up at the theatre and it always just rolls in. I average collecting about 2 a game

#10443 3 years ago

I forgot the previous owner added these foam strips to the back and top of the Sim card scoop. They have always been there since I’ve owned the game so I can’t comment on whether they have helped.
Sorry for the upside down picture.

#10444 3 years ago

The game plays so much different now that I don’t even care if the phone scoop gets minor wear. Takes this game to the next level when you can make the shots the way they were designed.

#10450 3 years ago
Quoted from Tranquilize:

Did you add Mylar or total raw doggin' it?

I have Mylar for now, but I might remove if I need more direct contact.

#10454 3 years ago
Quoted from BC_Gambit:

Does it at least seem to help with rejects? I was tempted to do something like this myself.

Still the odd reject, but nothing like when I had the Cliffy and the Mantis protector.

#10485 3 years ago
Quoted from snaroff:

I installed the Mantis protector a couple years ago and it's still a PITA. Usually, the Mantis protectors don't effect gameplay. I think the large bevel in the phone scoop must effect it...who knows.
Your experience is motivating me to go naked. The rejects are miserable. Just dread fiddling with it again, though I should have to mess with the posts. I did this with my KISS VUK and it totally opened up the game. The KISS scoop is really tight.

You won’t regret removing, the game plays like it’s supposed to now.

#10500 3 years ago
Quoted from snaroff:

The 3rd game after removing the Mantis protector resulted in getting my best score to date (of 270 games played). I've been playing more than usual with the pandemic and haven't made the board in quite awhile (after frustration with all the bricked scoop shots).
From my perspective, indusguys nailed it. If I didn't see his post and testimonial, I wouldn't have removed the Mantis (which I've had great luck with on other games).

Great score! Hopefully in a home environment we won’t see much wear over the years.

Quoted from Dreadreaper:

Would I be stupid to remove the jjp cliffies on the 2 scoops and replace them with mylar? I just think the game would play way better.

I was having a hard time consistently hitting the phone, so I removed the Cliffy and now I can hit it much easier.
