On my X-Files machine sometimes some weird things seem to happen.

For example I got truth multi-ball last night and that works but the super VUK that kicks the ball up onto the ramp that leads to the right flipper it kept firing during the entire multi-ball session. One session was over it stopped firing repeatedly and went back to normal.

Another thing I noticed was one time when the ball drained the machine did not know that it had drained and it kept doing a ball search. I had to lift up the machine have been shaking and then I guess it realized that the ball had drained.

Another thing is sometimes the filing cabinet will just register hits that aren't actually there.

And sometimes just before the machine kicks a ball into the shooter lane it will make the sound like it's trying to launch the ball but it doesn't actually do anything. You can still launch the ball into play.

I'm not sure if this could be caused by switches under the playfield that are maybe misaligned now from being used so much?

Even with all this weirdness the game still works and you can still play it fine. I'm thinking switches or maybe connections on the back box?

If anyone has experienced anything like this with next files what was the resolution?

Again this stuff is not always happening it's very random. Could be vibrations that are sometimes causing these issues possibly?.

I don't know I'm really not a pinball technician just a player

I lifted the playfield and I found some loose solder wire hanging down as well as wrapped around some wires from a tech job that I had done. I of course removed that solder wire.

I haven't had a chance yet to see if that may have been part of the problem as it's too late to play them all now.

But I believe solder wire is conductive so that may have something to do with it.
