Hi All,

I'm trying to repair a problem on my Williams Cyclone.

There are two circuits of GI on the backbox light board. the 1st lights the coaster and 2nd lights the title.

On my machine, both of these circuits are dimly lit. and when I got the game, one of the GI fuses (the one that goes to the coaster circuit) was blown.

During the solenoid test, you can hear the Gen Illum Relay board clicking, but nothing happens as far as the lights go, both circuits stay dimly lit.

Is it possible that the problem lies on the Gen Illum Relay board?

Please see the attached pics.

Also, there was a small hack, in that the 4 wires coming from J1 on the interconnect board were cut and spliced back to the appropriate wires on the light board side. Those splices are good.

TIA

Quoted from Cycloneman:

did yo put a new fuse in,the traces are burned on relay you might need to put a jumper on it

Thanks for the quick reply.

yes, I did put a new fuse in... weird thing with that. I ordered 10@ 5a slo blo fuses from PBR, they came and all tested bad!

I'll jump that trace and see what happens. Also, do you know the correct part number for this board, apparently the manual could be incorrect. I'm not sure if this is the proper board.

Update: I just checked continuity on that trace, it was good.

Quoted from Cycloneman:

thats strange did you test them with a mulitmeter

Yes. and I just checked the trace, it's still has continuity.

I guess. They're odd looking fuses too. looks like a resistor inside the glass.

I'll contact Steve and see what he says.

Did you see that the trace is still good? Somehow both circuits are being fed at about half voltage. There has to be a short somewhere. the relay is a part common to both circuits.

AHA!

The trace is good, but the pin going to the relay does not have continuity to the trace, I'll reflow the solder and see what happens.

That was it! Reflowing the solder worked.

Thank you. Have you noticed that Pinsiders don't sleep?
