The issue lies in that Stern had lacking code for a long time. Some titles still have junk code on release (007). So when Stern sends out NEW CODE or CODESGIVING (or whatever it was) and then all you get is minor bug fixes or whatnot, it's sort of a let down, especially if owners have highlighted some real improvements that should be implemented.

New Code used to be a big event because a lot of games needed it. Now only a small handful need it, but Stern still sounds the siren every time something minor gets released. Waters down the effect. Now when I see "New Code" I assume it's minor and nothing noteworthy unless an owner's thread goes on fire.
