Tim Arnold don’t take no crap from kids and DGAF what anyone thinks, for better or for worse.

Probably a dude that got kicked out because his kids were loud, obnoxious, and were harming the machines somehow and the dad saw no problem with it. Then, when Tim asked them to leave, he probably threw a fit like the little five year old he really is and this is his "revenge".

The ad has a "reply" button that reveals a CL relay account. If anyone is sufficiently interested they could ask the poster - no guarantee they would respond though. I think CL hides your address when you send through their relay so it's easy enough to cut off the conversation should it go awry.

You hit the nail on the head! Anyone with even 1 functioning brain cell devoted to pinball, knows the PHOF, and it's curator. Any other research into Tim is hoi polloi fodder!

    #9 10 months ago

So just to be clear because I haven't been, the guy in the picture is the curator of the PHOF? (and he's notoriously grumpy about poorly behaved children and their parents?).

I've observed/experienced kids beating on arcade/pinballs like they owed them money. I cringe when seeing kids smash buttons, kicking legs/cabinet, or pound the glass. Makes my left eye twitch. So, if it's that sort of deal - I get it.

There is no documented proof that Tim freaked out on some poor unsuspecting parent. The parent being "free range" or not, is mutually exclusive, of anything else!

    #14 10 months ago

This is pure speculation at this point, but after looking at your latest couple of posts, you smoked a few blunts. I don't know if your name is Jake, or if you are physically a fat human, but I would put a benjy on my speculation!

Kids are going to act with however much they can push and get away with. Human nature. Parents today are afraid to hurt a child's feelings in the name of this whole woke, safe spaces and time out society that is using electronic media to raise their children.

My wife and I went to a mid to higher level Italian restaurant on Sat to celebrate her Birthday. Next to us party of 4 with two children, maybe 8 & 18 months gets seated next to us. The youngest, while not unruly, squealed, yelled a bit and was loud. Parents only tool to work with the child was to put a tablet in front of her, with the volume turned up playing children's shows. I am having a nice dinner with my wife and here is Old McDonalds farm and the 1-2-3 songs. Fucking moron Millennial parents that have no clue how to handle AND teach MANNERS and instead disturb everyone else. Go to fucking Olive Garden you pricks.

I've never been there myself and cant speak from any personal experience. There are other threads that talk more about the PHOF and the owners interactions with patrons.

Read the reviews of the PHOF on sites like trip advisor. It's clear this isn't just one isolated incident of some random "free range" parent.

PHOF is not a fucking daycare or Chuck E Cheese playground. Why people bring kids to Vegas is mind boggling.

    #20 10 months ago

lol, I hear you @vdojaq! I think the real problem in the USA is the breakdown of the traditional family structure. Parents don't have enough help and support structure they need, plus they can't cook themselves, plus they probably live in a tiny apartment. They need to get out and get some relief but they can't so they drag their toddlers to a cafe or a movie or a pinball museum and ruin it for everyone else. Parents need grandparents and free quality childcare!

Been to all three incarnations of the PHOF. Have chatted with Tim many times, great guy. He has countless visitors all year long, he’s seen it all.

I stand by him, and all of the other PHOF employees, whom I have met and think are great too.

Try Disney World, you will see the parents as the problem immediately.

My in-laws live in Vegas so we go out there just about every year. This February we went to the PHOF every day for a week. We all loved it. Each visit was 1-3 hours. Our 10 and 12 year olds enjoy pinball and would tell you those visits to PHOF were the highlights of the trip. Never met Tim but also never encountered any issues with the staff there other than that they couldn't have been friendlier or more accommodating. So I'd recommend PHOF to anyone.

Evidently, Tim doesn't recommend PHOF to parents who can't parent and children who can't respect other people or their property. So, guess I can't recommend PHOF to them, either.

Me too. Been to all three location dozens of times. Not once have I seen Tim overreact to an issue with customers.

It's so simple. Don't run. Don't scream. Don't swear. Don't abuse the machines. That's it.

Its not, but I was there last year and I had my 10 and 13 years old with me. Both play pinball, play at home and at local spots. My 10 year old could literally babysit adults, she more mature than most. My kids were literally walking between rows and spotted a Simpsons pin and got excited and jogged like ... maybe 20 ft to it and someone working there (not Tim) SCOLDED them.

Like, "Stop running or you'll be escorted out!" I actually got so pissed that I confronted this lady and basically told her to piss off and not to talk to my kids again. I'm sure the PHOF staff have to deal with a lot of stupid kids and my kids caught some collateral that day but I'm here to tell you that there is a general grumpiness with the staff here and it really soured my daughter to even want to play anymore.

edit. And why is it mind boggling that people take their kids to Vegas? We were there for dance nationals as were over 200 other dance studios. Vegas isn't all strippers and drugs. There is plenty to do with families while there.

? That's a big generalization. Sounds like you hate kids and are generalizing them as well. The kids in my family have all been raised well and are not terrors. My wife and I have have had our niece and nephew over multiple times (5 and 2) and they have played pinball just fine without anything being ruined.

For the most part the people I've seen act obnoxious around pinball machines are grown adults. One adult side kicked a pinball machine at a show here in Michigan out of rage, another I saw multiple times lift a game from the front and drop it to try and clear a stuck ball...Years ago we did have one of the younger cousins over for a family party and he repeatedly was banging on the glass of a game I owned. I remember saying something and the parent just sat there, didn't interact with his kid at all and said "What did he break it". Wow, yeah parenting...

My wife and I are expecting our first child in August. She will raised well and taught not to destroy things just like the other kids in our family. We are pumped and looking forward to raising her and introducing her to pinball. Also, we don't have a tiny apartment (not that it would matter, nothing wrong with that or a smaller house) and we even cook lol!

Lol my wife and I have encountered that same thing at a number of restaurants, even at Olive Garden it's annoying. What happened to giving your kid a coloring book while out to a restaurant or better yet teaching them how to act while out? The turning the volume up on a tablet is truly annoying and is the parents fault. I can maybe understand giving the kid a tablet at a restaurant, it's the modern coloring book, but turn the volume off.

On a side note I remember as a kid asking my Mom for a pager and she said "If you want to look cool wear the garage door opener" lol.

yes it is a big generalization. that's not allowed? I have a kid I love and also about 30 nieces and nephews (my wife is Mexican, oldest of 11). They are over at my house almost daily and the youngest, Charlitos (3), treats my Star Wars Premium like a bash toy. Every time he leaves I clean the glass and the buttons and dream of rebuilding my flippers. I love kids, dude, I'm just trying to understand and be sympathetic towards some parents who show bad parenting skills in public. As you are about to learn, parenting is tough and you too might find yourself overwhelmed. :-/. Meanwhile I'm looking forward to raising a whole generation of Mexican-American pinball pros.

Your explanation and use of "General grumpiness with the staff" is so spot on. Why are that way? Because they can. They see Tim the same way and it fully encourages the rest of them.

I do not blame anyone for having an expectation that parents keep their children under control, however there are ways and there are not so good ways. Tim, as it's his place, get's to decide how it's handled. We as patrons get to decide if we agree with it or not by our patronage. I know Tim's attitude is if they don't come back, good riddance.

Yep, thanks to GenX and their BS-everyone-gets-a-trophy and his-shoeslaces-were-tied-too-tight-as-a-young-man-so-his-murder-spree-was-justified, and no one gets left behind in anything, and we are all winners, and just cause we disagree doesn't make either of us wrong on objective things like math, etc.

Millennials that suck as parents are a product of their upbringing and their environments. You tend to become the company you keep.

Hence, I don't have children and I mostly stay to myself/at home.

I'm great at parties too and a ray of sunshine.

(Edited: my fault, GenX I guess. All I know is my parents are boomers and I turned out solidly so if it really is GenX, my bad.)
