The thing that irks me the most about all this is hearing the content creators talk about TWIPY stuff. Can't we just get back to pinball?
Half of them complain about Canada who I've never even heard other than 2 "free" episodes. Based on those, I don't know why anyone would pay to listen to his voice and snarky remarks. (I'm aware that's not how the name is spelled).

I liked Levi’s idea for the pinball awards.

I get the idea of voting for meaningless awards, but the best awards are the ones we vote with our wallets.
Hard to imagine more than a few dozen people really give a shit.
At least make it FUN.

The TWIPYs are a thing the organizers created because they thought it'd be fun. They aren't paid for it and aren't required to do it. Year after year, they end up dealing with drama and harassment related to the content creators component (specifically, the podcast category). It saps their enjoyment and it sucks. So they decided it wasn't worth it anymore.
Why would someone who doesn't have to do something and doesn't want to do it keep doing it?

I don't think this is the case at all. Nobody seemed that bothered about Kaneda constantly winning until Colin came along...then instant outrage when Colin arrived.
Personally I think Kaneda should have taken the high road and seen Colin's initial 'slights' as what they were (a nobody banding together with other nobodies for 'synergy' to increase clicks) but the results of him failing to do so have been entertaining.
This will eventually take care of itself with Colin fails again (as described in his own seminar with home brewing and the indie music scene) and leaves pinball alone. Kineticist is dead in the water. It's bland watered down content that exists only to gather unsuspecting clicks. And I hope he didn't pay a lot for TWIP only to self destruct it in such a high profile fashion.

I watched the last twippy for a few minutes out of curiosity. What I remember was being bored to tears and it looked like it was produced by the middle school AV club.

TWIPPY analytics lol. Did you factor in that none of the other content creators will have any incentive to even mention the awards now? It's easy to say cutting out the "problem child" won't hurt engagement, but why would anyone plug the awards now? You do you.
By TWIPs own numbers, I believe over 5k people voted from dozens of countries and the live show was attended to capacity. The award winners mentioned their achievements in all forms of media including manufacturers, mod makers and content creators. The people's choice awards did matter to a lot of people and created enjoyment and fun. It also had validity. Its now over for TWIP and those involved. I'm hoping some bright creative people come up with a new peoples choice event.

They do, in that they could still win an award. Which is still fun!
I love what the creators bring to the hobby and support a lot of them in many ways, financially and otherwise. But the marketing/pr value of the plugs is overstated from everything I've seen.

Enough people have already voted on the peoples choice awards on kanedas Facebook page that we know who wins all the categories.
Maybe someone will come up with something more formal next year.
My vote goes to Kanada and Don. I’m really impressed with Dan’s Pinball podcast. Very cool guy who is working hard and really enthusiastic about Pinball. I also really enjoy Kanada and feel that it’s unfair that they are basically excluding him!
