I have a Bobby Orr Power play that I just did a playfield swap on. The switch test tells me I have errors on the outlanes. Removed and completely separated the switches, no joy. I have another BOPP and swapped playfield, no errors, not a board problem. Obviously I have a short somewhere. What is the best way to troubleshoot this problem? The right drop bank resets with only 3 targets down, The up post won’t raise or lower. All these items are connected by the white/green wire back to the MPU. Like I mentioned, the other playfield works perfect.

Check the capacitors on the switches. Some will have them, some wont. These can short causing a locked on switch. These can cause weird switch matrix issues. Any shorted diode will cause a similar issue.

That would be I0 or a 54 wire. Since you already narrowed it down to the playfield itself you need to visually inspect that wire at every solder point to make sure its not shorting or touching somewhere it shouldn't. I would start by looking where it connects to the drop targets as there is a lot of metal there it could short up against.

If you can't find anything you may have to unsolder it from all positions then resolder back one switch at a time until the problem occurs.
