The stuff in the cab is a diy speaker mod, an inductor to run an 8ohm speaker and L-pad to balance. I've done something similar on 3 WPCs (with less Frankenstein looking parts though lol) using the attached schematic which is from an old diy thread. I can't remember the author though...

I wouldn't worry about it. If it works, it works. It's a low voltage circuit and low risk. I'm not sure of the engineering behind it since it doesn't match the schematic but guessing it's fine. I wouldn't necessarily crank the l-pad to the extremes just in case the math isn't right to avoid stressing out the sound board.
