On that software version there are 2 categories of high scores. Ones obtained with the extra end of the game buy in ball are recorded as a “buy in high score”. The other category is for scores obtained without the buy in ball.
The software on my TZ has that feature but not the software on my IJ or STTNG.
It has nothing to do with coin vs free play.
