    I did the HS overlay. I would not do it to a restorable pf, but it turned out nice. Its not hard, because the underside of pf stays intact, and once sanded, is flat. Inserts and all. I would never use the old style overlays, but the new clear ones are a viable alternative.
    Let the overlay set for a few weeks after laying down. Nylon washers below post are a good idea. Use soldering iron to clean up cuts.

    Holes are not precut. They would be impossible to line up. Apply
    overlay, cut rough openings with exacto, run a hot soldering iron around opening to clean up cut. Turns out great.
    I did not apply clearcoat as the overlay was very durable as I tested with sandpaper. And I liked the way it looked as is.
    Cannot speak for long term as I have sold the machine.
