Quoted from PW79:

I had 2 shitty cigars tonight before giving up

H Upman with the tighest draw ever. Pretty sure I lost a filling puffing on that turd.

RYJ 1875 Reserve that tasted burnt somehow. I've had em before without issue, plain jane stick but not usually offensive like this one. Bleh!

I broke those bitches in half & decided I had enough abuse for the night lol.

May have to just stick to AJ's & Padron. They truly kick ass every time.

Funny you had that experience with H Upman and the RYJ, as I found both of those brands to be inconsistent and generally overrated when I was into smoking cigars regularly.

Padron was my favorite brand overall. Superb consistency, good variety and their lower priced cigars were still excellent tasting and a really great value.

Arturo Fuente was my second favorite line, and I loved Partagas.

Ashton's are the best mild cigars made in my opinion. Better than Davidoff's or Macanudo's.

Brett Butler shared a picture of his cigars in the Tron thread. Made me crave a cigar. Now I find myself viewing this thread!

Ah, Opus X. Those used to kick my ass!

Fairly early on in my cigar smoking days I smoked a Cuban Montecristo, and boy did that ever kick my ass! Got a huge buzz.

The art on that shirt looks better than what's on some pins!

Good to know.
So when you get a nasty one, do you usually toss it or smoke it through?

Speaking for myself, if I wasn't enjoying it after about 7-8 minutes, I'd throw it out.

So what's your guys drink of choice when smoking a cigar?

For me it a good port wine is hard to beat.

Quoted from wcbrandes:

sticking to the Padron 3000 for everyday

That was my main smoke as well. Hard to beat Padron 3000 for the price.

You guys are killing me. I'm going to have to stop by the local shop and pick up a couple of sticks.

Quoted from wcbrandes:

for the price, very tough to beat. They are so reasonable Rob you cant afford not too!

My concern is that those "couple of sticks" will quickly multiply. Like rabbits. Especially since I still have my humidor.

I'm sort of new to cigars. Always just bogarted good ones from my pops but he has quit smoking/chewing them.
I have not tried any Diesel cigars but how are they compared to a Padron?
I had a Padron 3000 a few days ago and one tonight and I enjoyed them. It wasn't too strong for me.
I realize that Padron is a more recognized name but how does Diesel compare.
Thanks for any and all replies.
Cheers

As I said earlier in the thread, the Padron 3000's were my main stick when I smoked cigars fairly regularly. To me they just gave the best flavor and consistent quality for the price of any cigar that I tried. Are there better cigars than Padron 3000's? Yes. But you are generally going to pay a lot more for a slightly better cigar experience. Of course half the fun is trying new sticks and splurging on something like an Anniversario or Opus X once in awhile, but for a regular "go to" stick, Padron 3000's are hard to beat in my opinion.

Having said all that: I have not tried Diesels.

Edit: and like PW says, when it comes to cigars, a variety is really where it's at. Nothing better than meeting up with fellow cigar aficionado's to discuss and try new sticks.

Not sure what this is. Maybe a londres or a delicias?

It's Padron. That's what matters.

I currently only smoke cigars on super special occasions.

It rained here today.

If that's not a super special occasion, I don't know what is!

Why is CIGAR all-caps in the thread title?

CIGAR is in all caps in order to attract troll posts from people like you.

Quoted from DanQverymuch:

Wink noted, but had to call me a name, despite the pre-emptive apology? Touchy!

Nah, not touchy, this is a fun thread for those interested in CIGARS!

The pre-emptive apology wasn't going to prevent me calling your post what it was: a troll post. Your thought process seems to be along these lines:
