Gottlieb Cleopatra 1977 Double point problem Post #8 in topic

Posted 140 days ago by Garrett – in EM Pinball Tech ‐ Last reply 139 days ago

Sound like you had a dirty contact somewhere. Another question for you. When you have all the drop targets down, does the extra ball alternate on and off with each pop bumper hit? It should but the at blade usually is broken off. On your pop bumpers there appears to be an EOS switch but this is a 24VDC playfield so it doesn't have EOS switches. This video in this thread shows the proper Extra Ball behavior alternating; https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/cleopatra-em-restoration/page/2#post-7297063

One more question, what does AS stand for? I don't know what AS stands for. But AS relays are tiny step units that are more relay sized. See: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/cleopatra-extra-ball-question#post-7292163 and https://www.funwithpinball.com/exhibits/small-boards#SpinUnit There are many topics here about AS relays.

Why did pinball companies make EM and SS versions of the same machine? Post #7 in topic

I think some national markets were more conservative and stuck with EMs longer. It’s very rare to see the EM version of Gottlieb‘s first solid state games in classified ads here in Germany, but go to Leboncoin.fr and type in Gottlieb, and there will usually be at least one EM Cleopatra or an Eye of the Tiger for sale.

I'd love to see how its wired. I wanted to do the same thing to a few games using 1 rectifier. I have an EM Cleopatra with the DC pops and flippers and its a lot more reactive. For the flippers, they use A-17875 and the pops are A-1496. May try those coils? Edit*** Not sure if they will fit, on the back of the manual it lists new items appearing in this game and has new coil mounting bracket and stops for the flipper and pop bumper coils. I think the coil stops are different for DC coils?

You mention fuses are good. There are a few “hidden” fuses under the playfield going to features. Make sure you ring these out, not just visually look and see. Many people forget these fuses are there Yes, this as well. There is going to be a fuse under the playfield (I think its 2a slow) for the drop target bank on a Cleopatra, and I think all System 1s with drop target banks had them

You are one lucky dude to have had more than one Cleo/Pyramid. When I first got this pin up and running 10 years ago, played two games before obliterating two of the existing drop targets and chipping the pop skirts. Beleive it or not, after 10 years I have to replace the pop skirts once more due to one of them chipping again. She is brutal. Yes, been collecting pinball machines for a long time. One of my pyramid machines was sample #2. I still have a Pyramid and SS cleopatra NOS glass, beautiful art.
