"Mayday...Mayday...Mayday...S.O.S...S.O.S..."

A unique, odd, mystifying rare game from Bally.
Not just "another standard 2 flipper fan layout", if you want to own something different.
The gameplay theme is fun, strong and reminiscent of 1950-60s sci fi movies.
Excellent quality sound and music.
The transporter ramp shot is challenging to keep building jackpots, and unfortunately is normally broken on most games today, until the ramp is reproduced.
The "U.N. Orion" spaceship lock area is HUGE, and similar to the lock system used in Flight 2000.
Although it dominates the playfield, it is a critical link in ball control for multiball.
Like Swords of Fury, once you play the game, you will never will forget the memory, especially if the game is left on running in attract mode.

No one really knows why this game did not sell well during the period, as sales in general were not terrible with some of the combined titles of the BLY/WMS conjunction period such as BK2K, BoP, EATPM.
Yes, some other near released had the same fate, such as Altlantis and Mousin' Around, but they were all very good games.

In 10 years, good luck trying to find one in great condition (or at all), as they are almost all played out.
Another machine that is going to spike in the market in around 2 years or so, from the date of this review.
Watch and learn.

I have owned several in my collecting history.
The first was a standard production model back in the early 2000s, excellent condition, but typical cabinet fading.
The second is a "floor model" HUO x prototype number #11 purchased at the factory, which is in my collection.
Basically brand new with an unfaded cabinet, but there are some differences between the production model and mine, including missing artwork on the upper playfield, the red light boards, different flasher locations, System 11 PCB differences, and extra holes in various parts of the playfield when they were moving posts around.
Photos were uploaded to gallery for PinSide.
Enjoy.

This game is underrated. Want a big score on this game? The rules are simple. Aim for 4 drop targets on the right side of the game. Knock em all down. Proceed to rip the spinner for 2k a spin. Sounds easy right? It is not.

I always feel like the next game I can do a bit better, and then it crushes my dreams. Keeps me coming back for more.

A middle of the pack Stern for me with some reedeming qualities and few things i strongly dislike. I really enjoy the placement of the two ramps on this game. They are both backhandable on the machine I play on and both shots are very satisfying. I find completing modes on this game very difficult, and it can be a bit of a grind to get the doublers lit on the important shots after every drained ball. The multiballs are a little weird being that they can be different depending on if you are an autobot or decepticon.

Being that the machine I play on site is an LE, I have to say I think the gameplay suffers a bit from the Starscream and Ironhide toy gimmicks. They tend to slow the gameplay down a bit. I would honestly just prefer it to be the Pro version. Another dislike of mine is the DMD movie animations. They never seem to look that great. The last thing i really dislike is the inlane areas. They are covered up behind a ton of ramp plastic and trying to look around them to see the lane inserts is a real pain in the neck, literally.

Jungle Lord is an underrated game similar to, but lost in the shadows, of Black Knight. Jungle Lord features an upper and lower playfield with many different rules applying to many parts of the game. It is not real intuitive to figure out the rules but after learning them, the game opens up to a plethora of gameplay goals and targets for future games. I really enjoy the sounds in this game, with the exception of the repeating tiger during multiball. The buzzer and bell add a nice touch to certain features and the magnasave is definitely a fun addition.

This is a unique and fun table with several aspects that make it stand out: spinning discs to throw your ball every which way, and and awesome fan on top which sucks you in to the storm theme. The artwork is fun, lighting is nice and bright, and there are plenty of varying shots to make it interesting over and over again.

Fantastic Star Wars experience in a pinball game. Great animations, sound, artwork, and layout. The skill shots are fun and there a lot of variation in game modes. A very fun and exciting game!

The rule set on this game is pretty complex. You can play it differently every game. The light show is great, but sometimes even overwhelming. The code works well, but I wish there were more scenes and animation. Left orbit issue remains an issue but not needed for scoring.

I love the theme and the deep rule set. The layout bothers me some. It just does not flow well. Artwork on cabinet from my run has that faded look. A ColorDMD is a must mod. Seems odd there is not Marge or Lisa call outs. Love the doh frenzy.

This game is wierd, but in a good way. I'm a bit of a sucker for side ramps, and this one has the best side ramp in the buisness. You better get locked into it as well because putting up a decent score on this game requires you shoot it A LOT. The WHO combo is very fun to shoot. I tend to stay away from the Time Expander in the upper middle portion of the game, but big scores are also possible using the Multiball strategy.

I never got into the Dr Who thing, but the artwork is great and if you are a fan of the show then i am sure you will love the art, theme, sound, backglass, etc.

The rules are really freakin weird on this game, but a great machine overall.

Fun game and a good value. Excellent call outs by cast of the show. Final Frontier was always achievable. Many folks had issue with reliability, but mine worked well with no issues. Always thought the delta ramp was a bit steep, I like it better on the Stern ST.

This game is fantastic and I'm glad I finally found a clean one to add to my collection. Why?

Cabinet and Glass are great, they actually left open areas on the glass and have reflective material on the door to give it some depth. Data East tried a lot of interesting things with their early back glass, this one look fabulous. This game is just nice to look at when its not running.

Playfield has so many interesting little features in the artwork I find things I didn't notice every time I look at it. The layout is fast and there are some tough shots and some nasty long sigh drains. The timed ramp shots make you work for a nice score. The light show is great, and the play field is playable in low light.

The sound is the icing on the cake. This game sounds phenomenal, I never noticed it when I played at the arcade, but when I was playing it before I bought mine I asked the seller if it was hooked up to the stereo he had sitting next to the game. Data East games always sound great but this game has a different board that makes it sound freaking awesome. The call outs and music changes as you travel from decade to decade make it a lot of fun. Then there is the cherry on top, something I don't think some of the reviewers here get to, when you get to the 50s era the game goes EM and clangs, what a payoff!

It isn't exactly the deepest game and there isn't a DMD. Yet it is a good looking fun machine. In my collection there are three steps a pin goes through.
My office, where I will put a game and keep it a few months to see if I love it and eventually sell it.
My garage, where I play it some more, work on it a little bit, see if I love it, eventually sell it.
My basement, I hate hauling machines down my stairs and hate moving them up even more. If a machine is in my basement I plan on keeping it for a very, very long time. Time Machine went directly to my basement, and sits next to my Black Knght and Fish Tales. It ain't goin' nowhere.
See you later alligator!

This game is hard as balls. To get big scores on this game you need to do a lot of work in order to stack the 3 multiballs in the game. It requires making a lot of very difficult shots. It can be a very rewarding experience when a good game comes together, but it is one of those games that is prone to making you pull your hair out.

The theme, animations, and sound along with the very difficult gameplay are what make this machine one of my favorites. The animations are second to none. A classic machine.

I did not play this game with the old code, but from what I understand it was terrible with the game allowing you to time the modes out. The new code requires you to make a lot of shots to finish the modes. The better you do in the modes, the bigger the payout will be later when you reach the mini wizard mode. Making combos during the modes will reward good points. There are lots of tactical decisions to be made while playing the game, particularly when it comes to what modes you stack your M-Balls with and also when to activate the 2x playfield scoring rewarded from reaching warp 9.1 on the side ramp. Speaking of which, the side ramp is an insanely fun reflex shot to loop repeatedly. Back handing the spinner is a shot I find satisfying as well.

Its a decent looking game. I don't enjoy movie art on my pinball games that much, but it is decent. I would not consider myself a Treky but do enjoy the franchise. One of Sterns finest games IMO.

Artwork is ok, fits the theme. No speech or music that I could hear so I cancelled them out in the ratings. Sounds were straight from the video game so they definitely fit the theme. Playfield was well thought out and had lots to shoot for. Ruleset, while not immediately apparent, was well thought out with lots to do and pretty unique. I played about 10 games at $1 each but was having a lot of fun. Why did Williams not make more of these? I am guessing this game is not easy to advance thru the stages and therefore wasn't fun for beginners.

I was just not impressed with The Hobbit. I played it along side of WOZ and its sad to say WOZ is better. Nice try JJ but "No Cigar". I predict it wont be very long and this game will drop out of the the top 100.

I owned a Sky Jump for a little under a year and only sold it because I will not have space for it after moving. I spent a lot of time on this game and have to say I enjoyed it immensely. Shooting the drop target bank is addicting. The rules are simple, but averaging a decent score on this machine is difficult. I rolled her once during the time I owned her, but that was with a loose tilt. (104,000)

The Artwork is second to none for this era game IMO. The backglass and playfield art are 11/10s.
I'm not a big fan of EM chimes, but you kinda learn to love them after awhile.

At first I wasn't sure, but after actually understanding the game I was hooked. By far my favorite game right now. Great job Stern.

This theme *might* have been relevant in 1985. Completely not relevant any longer by 2015. I really doubt there was a pent up demand for this.

Gameplay is mediocre. In just a few years, this will be one of those titles you can pick up cheap...

I didn't hate it, but I didn't care for it all that much.

Why do we need to recycle worn out themes over and over again? Is it impossible for Stern to come up with a decent original theme?

Boring, uninspired game play that's coupled with the machine being a drain monster makes this a game that simply isn't fun to play. Cool backglass.

Earned a replay the first (and only) time I played it, and I walked away from it... yes, I found it that bad.

I don't understand why this game is rated as highly as it is. It's an OK game, but not one of the all time greats. The artwork is atrocious-- it looks like they assigned the art design to an intern who used low resolution clipart that they found online.

Is it really that difficult for Stern to come up with an original theme? They had to recycle Star Trek yet again...

Ok pin made as a tie in to a simply terrible movie. Artwork is bland and dated-- I really don't need Sylvester Stallonbe festooned all over the backglass. Gamplay is ok, the "handles" for flipper buttons are unique and I found them interesting to play.

Good game. Not a huge fan of the theme, but they make it work. If I could change one thing, it would be to have some more stuff lower on the playfield-- everything seems to be at the top.

Like most Stern titles, it looks and feels cheap. It's a simply awful theme for a pinball, but the game play itself is ok. I'd play it again, but it's not one I have a need to own.
