Welcome to the info on Rocket City Pinball's interactive Dragon Tank scene! Note, this mod is only available for the Pro version of Stern's James Bond.
SETTING THE SCENE:
As with my Red Barchetta mod for Rush, I've come to appreciate a vehicle mod becoming a small snapshot of a scene. (For example, the RB mod was available with a road/shoulder/sign or a one-lane bridge, as envisioned from my interpretation of the song lyrics.) Here with the Dr. No film, we have visuals to work from -- you'll recall this scene in the movie takes place in a marshy area near the water, with some low vegetation. (Reference pics in listing.) With that in mind, the mount for my Dragon Tank mod includes similar looking terrain, and I love how much more natural this scenery makes it look -- instead of just a toy sitting atop a game plastic.
The scenery/mount and the tank will ship pre-assembled and simply sits atop the existing plastic when assembled, as demonstrated in the installation video linked below.
Please note:
- there is a minor cosmetic improvement being made to the mount which will remove unnecessary material behind the tank (reference the annotated photo in this listing); the version shown in the pictures & videos is the unmodified design
- the scenery used on the mount will be unique to every unit; in other words, the ground coloration and vegetation arrangement may vary
- I will include gold colored screws/washers for mounting the scene; these will replace the silver ones in the game and will blend in with the scenery much better
INTERACTIVE LIGHTS:
The Dragon Tank is a commercially available hi-fidelity die-cast model. I disassemble and modify to the tank in order to wire in tiny LEDs for the 'eyes', and also add lighting strip in its mouth, to represent the fire belched forth by its flamesthrowers. (Sorry I couldn't put real flamethrowers on it -- didn't want to ruin your machine!). I also produce custom connectors to tap into the appropriate power sources -- general illumination for the eyes (so they're alway on -- where's James when you need him to shoot them out?), and the flashing light behind the tank target for the mouth flames. When you hit the target during gameplay, the light flickers (while the tank appears on the display and shoots flames), demonstrated here:
