I have a complete and fully working players High Speed for sale. Love the machine, but I'm out of space to the point where this one has migrated to my Living Room and the girlfriend is NOT happy about that.....
First, I'll answer a few of the questions I always ask:
1. I have all the keys.
2. I have the manual.
3. Game needs to be move down about 6 wide deck stairs straight to the driveway after going through an extra wide door. So it's easy. I may relocate this to my garage before pickup so loading would be that much easier. And yes, I can help.
4. Not looking for trades.
5. Cash only.
6. Local pickup only. No shipping.
7. Head folds down for moving. No need to remove it.
All of the following done in the past 2 weeks:
1. Full topside teardown. Entire playfield, all rubbers and plastics cleaned. Playfield caranauba waxed twice (with the good, hard stuff). Machine plays fast.
2. New coil sleeves throughout and all coils wiped down/cleaned. Flippers adjusted as needed and plungers/stops smoothed out as needed. Flippers are nice and strong.
3. Replaced any and all parts that affected play in any way and were iffy. New clear plastic over the ramp, new flipper rubbers, NOS Hideout Switch installed, new eject shield in freeway scoop, all new foam pads behind each of the spot targets. New ballbaron chrome pinballs.
4. Cabinet has been fully cleaned and vacuumed, inside and out. Underside of inserts have also been cleaned.
5. Cosmetic only changes: new high-quality Apron cards (you can have the originals as well, for all you purists out there), legs/leg bolts de-rusted w/ evaporust, white post caps installed anywhere they had been replaced with standard nuts over the years. New coil paper where missing. Lockdown bar holes in front of cab filled with carriage bolts.
6. Entire playfield GI lighting has been replaced with 2 SMD Frosted Comet Sunlights. Looks awesome. Inserts, backbox and flashers are still incandescent and all of them work. Hey.... It's a players machine, remember?
7. Right-sized all fuses to ensure they are correct.
So.... Now you know what I've done. But still, with a players machine, there is good and bad...
The good:
EVERYTHING works and machine is running most current stock ROM (L-4). All diagnostics pass with flying colors. The only exception is that there is a segment out in the 2 left digits on the credit/match display. These digits on that display are used for practically nothing, so I haven't really looked into it. All player score/word displays work fine. See pictures.
Boards are good. No burned connectors or anything else of note except one: top tab/clip for the middle AA battery on the MPU is broken so batteries in the holder won't provide power(that's bad). So, I soldered on a remote battery holder that can be disconnected easily to provide the necessary setting/score saves. Didn't remove the old battery holder for those that like it all original. No "Adjust Failure" or other warnings on boot. Works perfectly (that's good).
Backglass is decent. Some scratches/paint loss, but nothing in the mirror and no flaking.
The bad:
Cabinet is ok, but definitely has seen better days. Various dings, chips and paint loss on the head and the body. The good part is that almost all of this is in the black, so would be a relatively easy touch up if you want to do it and like to match paint gloss..... I don't. Lockdown bar and side rails are in pretty decent shape. Crappy-old original metal coin box without lid is included unless you don't want it.
Coin door rubs when opening and closing it, but looks good.
Playfield, is....well....a players playfield. Some paint loss in various spots, but the majority is not very noticeable and most is behind stuff (like in the orbits). Hardtop is coming for this machine, so you could always redo it in the near future if you want to.....
Plastics are just OK. Some warping in a few of them. There are 3 broken plastics and a small chip along the left side of the ramp entrance , none of which affect play at all. I've tried to include pictures of those as well, but easily replaceable if you want to and full repo sets are available. Again, they are all clean and shiny regardless.
All in all, a great players machine that is clean and ready to play without having to do jack sh*# to it first.... And priced accordingly. Any agreement to cost needs to come before you pick it up, although I encourage you to play it as much as you want when you arrive...price is the price at that point unless something else really pops up that hasn't been covered here and is of concern. At that point, take it or leave it.....
