This volcano is rock solid! Did all the recommended grounding mods including some for good measure. Re-tinned all the board connectors & installed nvram battery. Game torn apart, polished both PF & plastics & reassembled with all new rubber. Just installed an entire row of brand new yellow drop targets. Every switch, lamp & solenoid working 100%. Upgraded both speakers to new & better. Old ones were such trash.

Things turned out great with the lighting as well. 2 SMD frosted warm white for most of the GI & backglass. Everything else is 2SMD color matched (orange, red, green) & 4SMD for the puprle & yellows. Cool white for white.
What really turned out great is the volcano eruption effects which in 1981 were a good idea, but can really be executed well now with LED's. The start of the eruption has warm white, then orange, then alternating red/orange the rest of the way.

Such a fun & unique game, has some fun speech, never played anything quite like it & it is definitely one of the faster widebodies I've played too. Between the slings & bumpers, & fresh polish on the game, it will keep you on your toes.
Game has great features like the pause button for the ski ball timing, button activated ball save, under playfield habitrail (pretty cool for 1981), & one of the great skill shots of its time.

As for the condition I'd say the game is pretty nice overall. Both layers of the 3D backglass are just fine. Playfield is mostly good & has had mylar covering most of it. Some small specs of wear otherwise. See pics. The most notable wear is under the infamous gottlieb floating mylar around the bumpers. Seriously what were they thinking? Really isn't something that you notice when playing. Artwork is in tact. Some cracks in some plastics but nothing is missing. Cabinet also has some typical nicks, & has had wear that got touched up so it actually looks pretty solid as a whole. So overall a pretty typical 80B that I gave some TLC to.
