Hey All,
So kind of a wild story - but a couple of weeks ago, I picked up a pretty rare piece of pinball history - An original Bally Bigfoot Backglass (actually made of plexiglass). Through a friend, I got in contact with a former Bally employee who worked as a sound engineer from 1979-1981. From memory, he didn't remember how he acquired this translite, but one day, he came home with it. He was only aware of a couple of these in existence, and he was ready to let it go as he was in the process of relocating.
First off, this thing is HUGE. As many know, Bigfoot was going to the sequel to the Hercules machine. Because of the huge footprint, cost, and low earnings, the Bigfoot project was cancelled. Story is they ran a couple of playfields as well as translites, but he wasn't aware of where the protoype machines ended up. I know Dayhuff has one translite he purchased in the early 2000's but I'm not aware of the others with them.
This glass is pretty amazing. Unfortunately, I don't have room in my new home to even think about putting this up for display. I have no wall space big enough in my gameroom, and right now, it's just leaning against a wall, which is pretty sad given how neat the artwork is and the esteemed history behind it.
In terms of value, I have no idea where to price this at. I'm sure shipping is possible, but it will probably be pretty pricy given the dimensions and padding necessary to keep it safe in transit. If you are interested and have an idea on what you would offer, please let me know.
Translite is located in Cincinnati, OH
Dimensions (approx)
33" Tall
47.5" Wide
