Hello Pinheads! I picked up a black rose this spring hoping it would be the next family "keeper". Sadly the wife and kids didnt take to it. Never can tell what we will like till we play it a bunch, as I'm sure you know.
By next week, I will have done a pile of work and shopped it. I can provide pics later, and some details below. I am posting this to see if there is any trade interest, either pre, or post-shopped, etc. I am interested in the following titles: Roller Coaster Tycoon, Elvira and the Party Monsters, South Park, Super Mario Brothers (full size, not the mini mushroom), Dr Who, Flintstones, Congo. Some are +/- what I have into BR.
Some details on the BR:
- Body is Bright (no fade at all), as is head. Some dings and nicks. some flipper button wear. I intend to touch that up (button wear), and cover with Pinballlife clear plastic stickers. Someone really needs to make stainless lollypop rails, seriously. Works so well for sega/stern wear.
- Playfield has no wood wear, but some decal and insert wear. Tiny bit at the edge of the cannon.
- Translite is good
- New Rottendog CPU board (previous had acid dmg)
- Other boards are original and all working
- Flippers were rebuilt by previous owner, and you could replace the sleeves I suppose, but they don't need a rebuild at all.
- I will be installing all new black rubbers throughout
- I will replacing the bottom two bats (others will be included are are fine, but faded a bit) - real williams black lightning bolt flippers
- I ordered a full CPR plastics set (whole thing) to install
- I ordered replacement cannon decals
- Cannon lid has some wear. Debating replacing ($19 marco or other)
- Cannon assembly could use a clean/rebuild so it fires like new. Motor works, but may consider reconditioning or replacing also to work like new
- Cannon and ship lock assemblies - microswitches were adjusted and cleaned, and now more responsive. Eventually I'd replace both, because they get the most clicker wear. Not ready yet tho.
- Ramps are fine, as is cannon
- Under ramp ball hole has a lot of back wear, but you never see it since it is under all that junk (and can cliffy). I arrested with a thin clear.
- New FIRE button 5 position membrane, AND companion mini board ordered (old one had a nice layer of dried soda on it, and right flipper was firing cannon). Will replace so lockdown
- External AA battery holder off CPU installed
- Two key fobs from NOS purchased
- Original manual included (in nice shape)
- Leg protectors installed
- LEDs in the backbox, and I plan to install more under the PF. Above PF is incandescent, and I havent decided yet what I want to do with that. Sometimes it is best to whiten the translite with single clears, make the inserts Pop with LEDs, and leave the pf incandescent for the feel. Inserts always benefit. (Hint: an all Dark blue or solid color LED PF is ugly, dark, and you can't see anything! Stop it guys, don't you play them? Do you like not being able to see the ball?)
So I have a pile of work to do, and depending on offers will sell it with the parts undone, partially done, or fully done, depending on whatever and whenever. Just putting some feelers out there. This is not a collectors quality piece, but with all the replacement parts and what you have to start with, it will be a pretty sweet home piece for someone who loves this pin.
Thanks!
Mike
