Condition: Used - shows wear but 100% working and clean
$ 700
Up for sale: 1979 Williams Flash Solid State Pinball Machine.
This machine is overall in Ok condition (i'd give it a 7 out of 10), and is very complete. It does have some issues, and I have done my best to describe them below:
Playfield (7 out of 10)
This playfield is a prime candidate for a clear coating. It is starting to show some planking, and could use some touch-ups around the light inserts. Overall though, the paint is all there, and it not flaking. This might be a good candidate for a first time playfield restoration. On the good side, the plastics all are there, and look great. I recently replaced the GI lighting with LEDs and it looks pretty nice.
Cabinet (6 out of 10)
The cabinet is the roughest part of the game. it has a few dings in it, and scrapes. If one were to restore the playfield, I would also patch and re-paint the cabinet. The plastic inserts in the coin door need to be replaced (one is broken). The legs are in pretty good shape, and have been sandblasted to natural metal.
Mechanical/electrical (8 out of 10)
The drop targets all work, and register. It looks like the machine still has it's original system 4 board set, but it has been serviced, and a lot of the old resistors were replaced. I just replaced the original yellow roms with green ones, replaced all but one of the rom chip sockets, and I added an NVRAM chip to get rid of the batteries on the board. The only issue is for some reason the NVRAM won't let me reset the maximum credits setting, so you can't put it into free play mode. However, I still have the original 5105 chip, and you can install it, but you will have to install batteries on the board again. Other than that, it works great!
Backglass (7 out of 10)
There is some flaking around the score displays, and along the top edge. Overall is in good shape.
The machine is located in Tehachapi, California. Tehachapi is between Mojave and Bakersfield along highway 58. Buyer is responsible for picking the machine up. Cash in person only.
