Hey everyone! I’m looking to sell my Taxi (the trade option just want working out)
The Good:
Playfield is VERY nice. This is my 3rd Taxi, and these are usually roached out, but the playfield and electronics are VERY clean on this!! It was at the previous owners house since 2006 and saw VERY little play (Yep 17 years in the same house, I have receipts showing this that are included). My amazingly artistic wife did a little touchup here and there (mainly on the passenger inserts which are ALWAYS worn) which have been cleared and covered in Mylar. The MPU is clean and has no current or past battery damage. Topper is solid with no cracks. Also the spinout has been “tuned” to work perfectly (will consistently go through all the values one and a half times on a full plunge) and has zero cracks in the “bowl” part. The ramps are original and have no chunks missing on either entrance. See below for everything I’ve done to it…
Shopped in the past 4 months (full topside teardown, Novus 2 scrub then 3 coats of 100% carnauba wax).
New parts include…
Bumper bodies, caps and skirts
Flippers (rebuilt with WPC spring mod)
Rubbers
Plastic posts
Target Decals
New Balls
Comet LEDs throughout (warm white in the GI, color matched on the inserts)
Coin door restored and new decal installed
The Bad:
Cabinet is SOLID, NO water damage or rot, but as happens with these sometimes I’ve seen, the pain is planking on the sides mainly in the yellow. It’s ONLY on the cabinet outside not the playfield or inside and is really the worst on the left side. I had plans to sand the cabinet down and decal, but it just never happened. I tried to capture it the best I could in the pictures (It looks worse than it is in real life).
The “g” segment is out on the lower display only. I believe I traced it down to a driver chip on the display board (it doesn’t appear to be a ribbon cable issue like happens often). Unfortunately it’s behind the display glass…I’ve replaced them before, it’s not a horrible job, but one I haven’t had a chance to handle and since it’s the lower display it’s not super noticeable so I just let it be.
p.s. I just saw the burnt out lower bumper bulb in the pics... It has been fixed (I keep the bumpers incandescent because I think they look better).
That’s all for the bad!
Also I have a system 11 LED OCD board that I’d be willing to throw in for an additional $150 of that interests you.
Thanks for looking!
