This is the pop bumper 3d printed ball saver mod which is on thingiverse and available printing free.... see pic. Here is a reference post for this mod.
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4835017
Pinwoofer printed out a qty of these in Black and Red, for the community, I am distributing these just for a small donation to cover shipping and handling costs of $5. If you have a 3D printer or access to a 3D printer to print this yourself, or used one of the other solutions out there then this may not be of interest for you.
Thanks to Agima2000 who created this free mod, and Pinwoofer for printing them and also for clearing the permissions from him to distribute this to the Pinside community in this manner.
Install instructions.
I just wanted to share that you do NOT reuse the rubber ring on the post. Just the ball saver only. Remove it and leave it off. See Pic below.
Here are my ball saver install instructions.... Which may help some. I would not want to have to remove the ramp if I didn't have to... And I didn't... 5 minute install.
1. the short end of the ball savers goes towards the bumper; the longer end goes against the metal gate between the light and gate. See pics.
2. the protruding side of the collar that fits over the post goes on the inside closest to the small light. See pics.
You don't have to remove the clear ramp in order to install the ball saver. You remove the rubber ring and then you can maneuver the ball saver in the proper orientation noted above on top of the post with your fingers underneath the ramp and while holding it there at an angle with pressure from one finger and using a very small flat head screwdriver guided through that slot in the ramp above the post with the other hand. Apply gentle pressure. on the collar.
Remember to very carefully push down on the top edge of the ball saver with the flat edge of small screwdriver and work it over the post. if you apply too much pressure you could SPLIT the collar, so be careful and patient and also Careful not to miss and skewer the play field.
Continue to work it down until it's on enough to get upright and then continue to carefully push it all the way down in place on the post still using the screwdriver. Use the thickest parts of the ball saver to push down whenever possible. The collar is thin and can split. Take your time, be smart and it should go on intact.
Let me know if you want black or red, and once black is gone, I will edit this to red only.
