Up for your consideration is a very special Game. This was one of 6 Hand assembled prototypes from the Capcom Offices and used by the designers to test the game. I purchased this particular one from Katherine Adams, an engineer who worked at Capcom and assisted in the design of the game. Once the game went into full production, she was the winner of a "Raffle" to be one of the lucky few to take home one of the original games. So that's the back story.. she had some great stories about Wally, Mark, Python and others. Anyway, she took the game home (her moms place) where it has been sitting up until the last few months.
The game includes original "Test ROMS" (See picture) although the final roms are currently installed in the game, I've also included a copy of patent from capcom she provided. Also note the markings on the side of the playfield "Wally and Phython Pilot.." (Yes, that Phython) She noted that this was common to mark them this way for the original prototype games. Also include the original manual as well - of course. She also noted that security (do the the competition in the industry at the time) was CRAZY to be able to get to Python and some others.
So What's been done to the game?
- Entire PF was taken apart on the top, every part was cleaned, polished. (see pictures)
- Color DMD installed (original Power board included if you want it, but no longer used)
- All new bulbs (original 44's) and Rubbers.
- Game Polished and triple waxed
- New Opto Board installed inside Truck/Lock
- Few minor tune up and repairs mainly to the elevator to insure reliability.
Cabinet - Is near PERFECT. There are a couple *tiny* little imperfections, but all in all, the purple is near perfect throughout.
Translight - Looks great with no issues.
Boards - No issues at all. They look great and only board that was removed was the power driver for the DMD, which of course is not needed with the Color DMD.
Playfield - Looks great as well, there are a few imperfections as well on this surface. Likely from play testing and other Misc things that went on with the game. Also note that it appear the Metal Ramps may have been hand welded (Based on how it looks to me) as these were test games.
The Takeaway - The game plays great and incredibly FAST. Having only ever played one before don't have a lot to compare it to - this one seems lightning fast, which probably makes sense based on the prep work that was done. This game is also super fun, and I honestly enjoy it way more than TOM - but that's a personal choice of course as well. The one nice thing about this - no darn broken spinning trunk to deal with. :P
Any other questions please send them my way or if you'd like any more pictures, but I tried to provide as many as seemed sensible.
As far as price goes, open to offers I suppose, with the time and what I have into I priced it accordingly. Feel fee to roast me if you want :) Cheers.
