FOR SALE: A nice example of an all-around Williams classic - Pinbot! This machine recently came to me as part of a mid-sized collection buy, of which I only plan to keep a couple of the WPC titles. The previous owner did the majority of the shop-work and modifications; however, I did go back through most of it to correct some issues, and make certain the previous work was sound and done correctly. The machine now looks and plays great!
The previous owner went with the half-blue/half-red theme that many do on this title. I really am not one for colored GI; however, on this title, and this title only, I do think it looks pretty neat. The machine is fully LED'd with Comet bulbs (blue/red GI, color matched insert, and color matched flasher colors. When I got it, all the flashers were locked on, all the time, and it would just about fry your brain when you looked at it for any length of time. These early sys-11 titles have a flasher warming circuit (for incandescent bulbs) that will let enough power through to the flasher sockets to continuously light modern LED's. To correct this - I removed all the 330 resistors from this system, as well as isolated the ground circuit from the many resistor PCB's. The playfield color was much more tolerable with the big bulbs off, but it still was overpowering on account of the LED post lighting under just about every playfield post. I pulled a small shoebox full of post lights and associated wiring, and other LED light ropes off to make it tolerable again. I also removed a home-made, and rather odd looking, helmet plastic mod. After, and to get it back to factory, I sourced an NOS decal from a fellow Pinside'r, to restore the iconic look. Lastly, I went through and repaired a gang of switch errors, wiring hacks, and re-soldered one misbehaving score display.
A list of new parts recently installed, by the previous owner, is as follows:
* New/modern Xpin power supply.
* New Wolfpack orange LED display set (with new ribbons).
* Pinball Electronics NVRAM (no more batteries).
* New 5-hole light baffle.
* New playfield plastic set.
* New mini playfield.
* New spiral ramp (I am assuming this is new, because it is black in color - I am not entirely sure though).
* Mirror blades.
* New/reproduction topper and base plate.
* New drop target/standup decals.
* Full LED lighting (GI and feature/flasher).
* Comet lighted posts (now ~10 installed).
* Clear/lighted flipper buttons.
* Black flipper bats.
* New legs, leg bolts, and black cabinet protectors.
* Silicone rubber.
* New shooter rod, sleeve, springs, and washers.
* Custom pricing/instruction cards.
* Re-stenciled/Painted the front of the cabinet, and the sides of the backbox (this work is amateur, and does have defects; however, it still presents pretty well). The artwork on the sides is still original, and very nice.
* Repainted coin door.
* Probably more I am not seeing, or is not worth mentioning.
Please review the pictures closely for additional condition details, and don't hesitate to reach out with any questions, or if you would like to see additional photos of a specific area.
The game is located in Central Pennsylvania, just off I-99. Pickup is highly preferred, but shipping is all-good too, as long as the buyer makes all the arraignments and payment-in-full has cleared my account before the game leaves my possession. Delivery to Allentown Pinfest in late July is also possible, as I am planning to attend.
