Pinsider Tech Special - Williams Road Kings - Needs MPU repair.

Pinsiders, here is a good, partially working, Road Kings machine. I put some work into this machine:

* Cleaned playfield
* Added a few new rubbers, the rest of the kit is included.
* Added some new bulbs here and there (still needs some more, I ran out)
* Replaced some of the displays and driver board with newer, working parts, all displays are 100% with no artifacts, missing elements, or dimming.
* Re-Capped the PSU
* Added NVRAM
* Added a partially-working MPU board
* Cleaned the ramps, there are no cracks or wear on these ramps, very nice.

Background:

There was this bad MPU board problem on my High Speed, it was acid damage, and repaired by Keith at K's back in 2017, but he couldn't finish it 100%, so I bought a NOS board from him before he moved away. I put the old MPU board into this Road Kings, burned the ROMs (It has non-Williams EEPPROMS), thinking I'll logic probe it to death and find the culprit. I'm a procrastinator...

----- TECH NOTES -----

What's wrong, you ask? Basically the solenoids either work, or they don't, and some game sound effects do not work, while others do. (power cycling gives new effects now and then, and the music board is flawless) Sometimes, the sound will play the 'test loop' sound on power up, sometimes it won't.

A note about this board: It appears to have a 'special solenoid' modification done, that might be part of the problem, there are some zener diodes soldered onto the rear of the MPU near the top-right (facing component side) of the Molex connector that goes to playfield solenoids. These diodes were put there on System 11A/B boards, but this is an original System 11 (with full sound circuitry).

I don't know what else to say, if you have a working MPU board, this game should work. I have tested nearly every solenoid and switch and light at some point, they just don't all behave at once.

----- ***** -----

I need the cash, so I am fire sale-ing the machine. Use it for parts, or find an MPU board off eBay and enjoy.

Machine is nearly complete, with translite and playfield glass, legs. Does not have keys. Coin Door is dented, but included. No coin mechs.

Please look at the photos, ask questions, there will absolutely be no further discounts on this, $500 cash and carry.
